Hi @357vandy, welcome to the community. The server notification while music is playing suggests Roon may be losing contact with your Roon Server.

To narrow this down, please check these things first:

  1. What platform is your Roon Server running on, and how is it connected to the network?
  2. When the “waiting for my server” notification appears, does playback actually stop, or does it keep playing normally?
  3. What is the exact local time + date when the issue next occurs? Please let us know here and we’ll enable diagnostics mode to see if there are any clues around that time-frame.
If you can share the steps that reliably trigger each issue, and whether anything changed recently around the time this started, we can narrow it down.

As for the lyrics being out of sync, does this happen with all songs or just a few songs in particular? It is possible that the timing data for a specific track(s) to be off, so I would like to understand if this is the case.

Hi noris, I am using a 432evo server as my Roon server running VortexBox. My network is CSpire fiber optic with the server connected using hard wire from one of CSpire’s pods that is plugged into a wall outlet near my system. When the dialog box pops up while I am listening, the music never stops playing when this happens. There is no real specific time of day when this happens, I usually listen in the afternoon when I have time to sit for a while. When it does happen the message stays on the screen of my tablet for as little as a blink, then sometimes for 10 seconds or so, it is just annoying more than anything else. I think you are correct that Roon is losing contact with the server, I just have to figure out why it is doing this all of a sudden (just in the last couple of weeks) when it has never done anything like that in the about 2 years I have had this system set up. The only piece of equipment that is new is the pre-amp, which should not have any effect on the server.

I have tried turning everything off then back on again, including my internet router about 3 to 5 times but that did not help. I think I am going to turn everything off again and let it sit until this afternoon then reboot everything to see if that will help. I will keep you posted with my results after a little more troubleshooting. Thanks for the help.

By the way, I forgot to let you know about the track lyrics that are out of sync. This is only a random amount of tracks, I would say that I have found only about a dozen maybe that have the wrong lyrics for the song that is playing.

Well, maybe 6 times is a charm for me. I turned everything off yesterday for several hours, I then turned everything back on and let it all boot back up. I used Roon to play music for 4 to 5 hours, I did not get the annoying warning during that listening session. I have to assume that my connection issues are fixed, for now at least.

I still haven’t figured out why the lyrics of some songs don’t match the song. I can’t remember which songs are out of sync, I did find one song that was off though, it was by Foreigner-the song Long, Long Way From Home had the lyrics for their song Double Vision. I did find another one by Sade that was wrong, but couldn’t find it when I went back to look for it. I will write them down from here on out and let you know what I come up with. Thanks again for the help.

Hi @357vandy,

Thanks for the update, and I’m glad to hear things have stabilized for you!

With lyrics that are sometimes delayed, are these local tracks, or streaming tracks? We unfortunately won’t be able to do much if they are tracks from Tidal/Qobuz/KK Box.

I would test things across different Roon remotes, and see if you experience the same lag across different devices.

Thank you!
