The Roon partners page does not have any way to filter for component types.
If for example, I am looking for Roon Ready all-in-one speakers I have to navigate to each partner to see what they offer. This is an extremely tedious way to discover compatible products.
The ability to filter the list of partners and devices by “roon ready” status would be a welcome addition, currently you have to check every partner and device to see it’s status, when users want to quickly see the “roon ready” or “roon tested” devices to explore options.
Problem Statement:
With the growing number of brands and devices with defined categories (e.g., DAC, Integrated Amp, Powered Speaker, etc.), users struggle to efficiently find relevant products on the existing page.
Proposed solution:
An improved navigation and filtering on the overview page for the users.
Goals & Objectives:
User experience: Increase user satisfaction in finding compatible brands and devices
Efficiency: Reduce time spent by users searching for devices
Scalability: Create a platform that can easily accommodate future growth in brands and devices without significant re-engineering
Functional requirements:
Show a clear list or grid of all approved brands (already there :-))
Filtering Capabilities:
– Brand Filter: A drop-down or multi-select option to filter the list by specific brands.
– Category Filter: A drop-down or multi-select option to filter brands/devices by predefined categories (e.g., DAC, Integrated Amp, Powered Speaker).
– Combined Filters: Filters should work in conjunction (e.g., show devices from “Brand A” in “Category B”).
– Clear Filter State: User should easily see which filters are active and have an option to clear them.
Search Functionality:
– A prominent search bar allowing users to search by: Brand, Device Name, Category, or Keywords.
– Search results should update dynamically as the user types (suggestive search).
Sorting Options (optional but recommended):
– Alphabetical (A-Z, Z-A) for brands
– Perhaps by “Newest Brands,” “Newest Devices,” or “Most Popular” (if data is available).
On the overview page:
Only list brands that have devices matching the defined filters.
On the detail page of a brand: Only list devices that match the defined filters.
Non-Functional Requirements:
Performance:
– Page load times (e.g., within 2-3 seconds on a standard broadband connection)
– Filter/Search response time: within 1 second
Usability:
– Intuitive navigation and clear calls to action.
– Consistent design language in line with your branding guidelines.
– Error messages should be clear and helpful
And of course, other things to consider are: security, scalability, compatibility, accessibility, maintainability, SEO, etc. - but you probably know that better than I do…
+1 for that suggestion. I would love to be able to search the database of Roon Ready devices from all manufacturers by type of device (e.g. integrated amp, streamer, etc), MSRP, etc.
When I am looking for for example for a Roon ready / tested wireless speaker on the Roon website I have to go to the page About > Partners where all partnered brands are listed. To see devices I have to click on a brand name.
But I am not looking for a specific brand, I am looking for a wireless speaker …
So would you please consider to add filters to that page on your website? At least a filter for ‘type of device’ where I could choose for ‘wireless speaker’, ‘powered bookshelf speaker’, ‘powered standmount speaker’, ‘dac’, ‘streaming pre-amplifier’, ‘all-in-one’, etc.? And maybe some other filters to …
