Description of Issue

Roon will not connect and begin streaming to HQP build 4.35.0.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled both HQP and Roon, checked all network connections, switched out RJ45 cables. All other devices on network functioning properly. Please help!

When checking HQP log file it says Roon and HQP are not connecting. I have never experienced this before in my 7 years of using Roon and HQP together.

I have included the HQP log file and Roon server log file for your review.

In your re-installations, did you check the button in HQP that allows for incoming network controls. It is not on by default.

I am using 4.35.0 Embedded in the sonic transporter, therefore I do not have the desktop icon access. Any other help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Can you please help with this connectivity issue?

Thank you

Hi Thomas.

Fellow user here. Have you contact the maker of sonic transporter? They should help you with this .

Onto other comments

When you say Roon will not connect to HQP, what exactly do you mean. When they are used together Roon just sends the file to HQPlayer. HQPlayer is then totally responsible for distributing it to an endpoint running the HQPlayer endpoint software (Network Audio Adapter, aka, NAA).

Are you getting an error message in Roon that says it cannot connect? If Roon cannot connect to HQPlayer than you would see a message about playback trying to start and either a Roon cannot reach HQPlayer or nothing, playback just doesn’t start.

If you do see Roon playing the track but are not hearing anything out, then that is an issue with HQPlayer sending the audio to an endpoint.

I don’t see that anywhere in the log snips you posted. What I do see, is that HQPlayer can’t seem to find its own NAA remote, which in your case is the Sonore.

Hi, Yes I have conformation from SGC/Andrew by way of remotely taking control of my i7 that the sT is working normally. This just started a couple of days ago. When using HQP the playback will not start, it just starts and stops right away. Then I get the roon error message that says, Roon could not connect to HQP, and then an authentication error.
I have tried uninstalling HQP and reinstalling, I have removed HQP from the audio services in roon setting-Audio and restored it and no help.
I am a lifetime user and have been using this combo of roon/HQP for 8 years now and never experienced this behavior before now. I am using HQP 4.35.0 and roon build 1297. I am also a early access/testing operator.

Please let me know if there is any additional information you need to help me get this resolved.

Thank you

So, the Sonic Transporter is running Roon as well. In Roon, Settngs / Setup, when you are setting up the link to HQplayer are you using

  • Localhost, or,
  • 127.0.0.1, or,
  • the actual IP of the Sonic Transporter.

Try each one of them in sequence.

BTW, I am just a fellow user, not official Roon Support.

Yes, Local host. Do you think being a early assess subscriber could have something to do with it?

Thanks!

Daniel

I tried the IP address as well and no help! Jussi from HQP gave me an ip to try, no help!

Thanks

Can you turn this over to the support team?

Thanks

Doubt it. I"m early access and I have no issue with Roon and HQP 5 talking to each other on the same box. I would suggest you try the 127.0.0.1 IP address.

On second thought…

I think that HQPlayer might not respond if it doesn’t have an NAA endpoint and DAC to speak with. Which brings me back to my earlier post…

What I do see, is that HQPlayer can’t seem to find its own NAA remote, which in your case is the Sonore.

2023/07/14 10:02:00 NAA output discovered 0 Network Audio Adapters

Which indicates that HQPlayer cannot talk to the Sonore anymore. As I understand, if HQPlayer does not have a functional output, it will not allow playback.

In fact, I have just replicated that, set HQPlayer to play to an inactive output and got this message in Roon

So, I suspect the issue is not Roon or HQPlayer but your Sonore endpoint.

I will reach out to Jesus and see what he can do. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the HQP 4.4.0 endpoint app on the rendu. I have also tried the 127.0.0.1 and no help. So you feel its a problem with the rendu then?

Thanks

Hi Thomas,

In your log files, HQPlayer is not seeing the Rendu. If HQPlayer doesn’t see an endpoint and DAC it will not play. And, that is what you should focus on if you talk with Jesus, getting HQPlayer to see the Rendu.

Also, I think that you should leave Roon out of it for now, choose music just from inside HQPlayer and try to play to the Rendu. I have never used embedded I only use HQPlayer desktop w/ the Client. I’m not sure if the Client works with embedded (@jussi_laako)? If it does then you should load it and play music using it.

Once HQplayer is playing to the Rendu without issue, then add Roon back into the mix.

Daniel

I understand.Thanks for your help!

Cheers,

Yes it does, it works the same with both. For logistical reasons it is distributed in the same installation package as HQPlayer Desktop. But can be installed separately, without Desktop server on Windows and macOS.

It is the official way to control both Desktop and Embedded.

You need it if you want to play for example from Qobuz with standalone HQPlayer (Embedded or Desktop).
