After the most recent Roon update, Roon could not see my "Living Room" device. I rebooted my iMac, which usually solves that problem, and now Roon won't launch at all. I'm getting a message that "You're already signed in," which I'm not.
Describe your network setup
Verizon FiOS; Eero web; Bluesound Node; Yamaha AV Receiver. Worked before Roon update
Hi @Lawrence_Sapadin,
Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue. Please try clicking “Unauthorize” and then signing in again. This often helps resolve similar problems. If it doesn’t do the trick, let us know and we’ll be happy to take a closer look!
Hi, Daniel. Thank you for the suggestion. It partly worked. I have two audio zones: my iMac (where Roon lives) and my “Living Room” (where my stereo lives). With your help, Roon now sees the Living Room, but not the home of its own server. (See below.) Any further thoughts or suggestions?
Can you please navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network , and make sure Roon is allowed. If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists.
If they do, another area to test would be your Mac firewall - if you temporarily disable it and reboot Roon, are you able to connect to your system output?
I toggled the Roon setting in Privacy & Security and rebooted. No change. Everything worked before the Roon update, so it’s not a firewall. Any other thoughts?
Hi @Lawrence_Sapadin,
Just to double-check—when you go to Roon Settings → Audio, do you see anything listed under “This Mac,” including the System Output? If nothing shows up at all, that could help us narrow down what’s going on. Let us know what you’re seeing there.
I think you found the problem. I’m attaching two screenshots of the Audio settings. For This Mac, should I enable System Output, Built-in Output, or both?
And under Other Network Devices, should I enable “Lawrence’s iMac” also?
Thanks!
Hi @Lawrence_Sapadin,
Try enabling system output first. That should be the simplest chain and the most likely one to work. Let us know how that goes and if you’re able to play to system output and we will proceed from there.
System Output enables Apple’s coreaudio (the Mac audio kernel) to takeover the chain from Roon. This way, you’ll play Roon through whatever default speakers are currently playing the OS output for any other software.
