Sorry to hear that the issue is still ongoing. I spoke to the team today regarding your case and it looks like we will need to add some additional logging to Roon since you are crashing so early in the startup process. This will probably take some time but we will reach out to you once we have added additional logging, or if you don’t hear back from us in 2 weeks, please reach out again and I’ll check with the team to see how progress is going. Development is investigating with the additional tooling we’ve enabled and we should have a more fruitful update shortly.

In the meantime, you can expedite our investigation by providing a set of recent RoonServer and Roon logs. Zip (.zip) up both the Roon and RoonServer folder on the affected PC using the directions found here and upload via our File Uploader.

It’s been some time since our last correspondence, are you still seeing this issue at the present time on the latest Roon version? Our dev team had a chance to look into your report a bit deeper and the error seemed to be stemming from a pending update. If you are still seeing this and have not used/updated Roon on the PC for a while, you can try to perform a clean reinstall of the Roon UI app using the below instructions:

  • Create a Backup of your current database
  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon”
  • Rename the “Roon” folder to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Verify if the issue continues

Thanks for the update, and I’m sorry you’re still having such long standing issues with Roon on your PC. Theres clearly something unique to your setup that isn’t agreeing with Roon. You have my apologies if we’ve already glazed over a few of the below troubleshooting steps - but let me know your findings:

  1. Try running Roon as an Administrator - Right-click the Roon.exe shortcut and select Run as Administrator. Any luck there?
  2. Open Device Manager(devmgmt.msc) - Expand Display Adapters and check for any warnings or outdated drivers. Update/reinstall the graphics drivers if possible.
  3. Re-examine your anti-virus programs. Try disabling real-time protection and launching Roon.

Lastly, have you tried fully uninstalling Roon and deleting all associated folders before attempting a fresh download and install?

  • Uninstall Roon using Add or Remove Programs.
  • Manually delete the Roon folders:
C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\Roon
C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\RAATServer

I have already tried the above mentioned possibilities.
Also, my PC configuration didn’t change since before I started to use Roon.
In the beginning the Roon interface was working.
Also tried to uninstall several times and deleted the Roon folders,no luck there.

Understood, thank you once again for confirming. At this point you doubtlessly require an action step that leads to a real resolution. Here’s what we need to expedite a solution:

  1. Please upload one additional set of Roon and RoonServer logs (available in the “Roon” and “RoonServer” folders) by the directions found here and using this File Uploader.

  2. We will meet with development as soon as we’ve received logs and identify a way to either a) install Roon fresh on this machine such that it can open or b) push a change into the upcoming Roon release cycles that prevents this condition from occurring or provides more verbose and illuminating UI and logging.
