Describe the issue

The RoonAppliance crashing on Windows 11. This machine is setup as a NAS and is running other applications/services.

I have reinstalled the Roon application multiple times Paused the ESET virus check during one installation. I have also tried the early access version as well but this has not helped.

I have ensured the ESET firewall has all the correct ports open.

I have reviewed the log files and there is no captured exception/error in them.

I have repaired the .Net 6 runtime installation. But from the looks of it the Roon Application is self contained so it probably was a waste of time.

Roon Server is running on a
12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12600K 3.70 GHz
32.0 GB (31.7 GB usable)
1 TB Kingston SKC300S
There is multiple HDDs combined together using the StableBit Drive Pool software

Hi @Nicholas_Archibald,

Thank you for the report. Are you willing to provide a compressed copy of your database folder (RoonServer folder) for our team to reproduce in-house?

You can use this uploader. Thank you!

Please also share the Windows crash dump file here.

Hi Connor

Thanks for following up.

I have uploaded one of the latest dump files along with the wer file to the crash dump location. I have also shared a zip of the database folder.

Let me know if you would like more information or crash dumps.

Hello @Nicholas_Archibald ,

Thank you for sending the latest dump files over. The errors look similar to an issue we are currently investigating. We have some changes going out in our next Roon release that we are hopeful will help us debug this issue further. Let’s please circle back once the new Roon release is published, once you’ve taken the update (after it’s released - TBD on timeframe) let us know here and we will activate diagnostics and check for clues in the new logs. Thanks!

Hi @noris

I’m happy to help you investigate and fix this issue. The only thing is that I installed Roon to evaluate whether it is right for my audio experience. Obviously, I am unable to do this because of the issue at hand. Hence, my trial period will expire soon, and then I will have to pay for something I currently can not use or know whether it is right for me. Is there any way I can get a trial period extension while we work through this issue?

Hi @Nicholas_Archibald,

Thanks for the response - we should be pushing an update this week, and it looks like you have 5 days left in your trial, which should align nicely. If this changes, we’ll absolutely get you an extension on your trial to ensure things are running smoothly.

Here’s a link to our software release notes for proper tracking, but you’ll be auto-notified to update your server and remotes in-app :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi

I have being running the early access build and it seems my crashing issues have been resolved (fingers crossed). I will let you know if this changes. But either way thanks for helping resolve my issue.

Hi @Nicholas_Archibald,
That’s great to hear! We’re glad the crashing issue is resolved.
