Roonbridge connected to usb input of Active Speakers, can it detect the DAC used in Active Speaker?

Does Roon bridge detect dacs embedded in active speakers ?

Might depend on the dac but yes it should normally….what speaker?

DAC chip , Texas Instruments’ PCM5242
Have no idea how the usb port data stream is routed to DAC chip

It’s more to do with the USB port implementation. If it’s UAC2 compliant then it should work fine. It will be unrecognised device in Roon but will be fine, most DACs are not Roon tested so show up like this. Some features may or may not be available dependant on if the DAC reports them under the os the bridge is running on and if drivers are required.

Note:

  1. Default USB driver for audio on Wlndows 7/ Wlndows 10 operation system supports only USB Audio Class 1 , which limits the audio stream to only 2 channels PCM with highest sample rate of 96KHz. TO support PCM with higher sample rate, USB interface of S3000 Pro is built on USB Audio Class 2, therefore specific driuer is needed for using with Windows 71 Wlndows 10. Please refer to https://ww.v.edifier.com/cn/zh/speakers/S3000 Pro for details.
  2. Please understand Windows XP operation system is no longer maintained by Microsoft, driver software to work Windows XP no available. There may be risk warning during installation, please install according to your needs.
  3. USB driver in Mac OS supports USB Audio Class 1 and USB audio Class 2 by default, therefore no dedicated dri’er software is needed for S3000 Pro to use with Mac computer.
  4. For further information referring to the driver software, please log on the ink below for details:

  5. If you need to buy USB A-to-B date cable, you can search for and buy it on various e-commerce platforms.
  6. In USB mode, PCM stream with various sample rates is supported, including 44.1 KHz/48KHz/96KHz/192KHz.
    Note:
The play control under USB input belongs to USB HID control, this control needs support of player software, and so there may be compatibility differences for different audio player software.

PCM5242

From https://www.ti.com/product/PCM5242#description

4.2-VRMS DirectPath™, 32-bit, 384-kHz, 114-dB Audio Stereo DAC

The PCM5242 is a monolithic CMOS integrated circuit that includes a stereo digital-to-analog converter and additional support circuitry in a small QFN package. The PCM5242 uses the latest generation of TI’s advanced segment-DAC architecture to achieve excellent dynamic performance and improved tolerance to clock jitter.
The PCM5242 integrates a fully programmable miniDSP core, allowing developers to integrate filters, dynamic range controls, custom interpolators and other differentiating features to their products.
The PCM5242 provides 4.2VRMS ground-centered differential outputs, allowing designers to eliminate DC blocking capacitors on the output, as well as external muting circuits traditionally associated with single supply line drivers.
The integrated PLL on the device removes the requirement for a system clock (commonly known as master clock), allowing a 3-wire I2S connection and reducing system EMI.

Thamnks for the replies & Suppert
Seems to have the potential to be detected by Roon looking at the S3000 Pro specs.
