I am reading the audio quality display from my Fiio Alpen 2 DAC display connected via USB to my laptop. When I play TIDAL via Roon I get 48kHz,16 bit on the DAC display. When play from TIDAL directly I get 96kHz, 24 bit on the DAC display. I have changed all Roon settings in an attempt to match the HD audio that I get directly from TIDAL without success. Any suggestions?

Assuming your DAC’s display is correct (and I have no reason to doubt it), then it sounds like the Tidal application (or something else in the audio stream) is upsampling and resolution enhancing, whilst Roon is outputting a bit perfect version as streamed from Tidal.
