Ropiee, Roon and Shanling 3.2CD

I have a new install of RopieeXL on a RPI4. I am trying to use the RPI along with the DAC section of the Shanling as a Roon endpoint, using USB.

The RPi 4 is replacing a MicroRendu which was connected to the Shanling Dac section and Roon recognized it fine, so I do not think I have an issue with the Shanling.

Within Roon, I can see the RPI/Shanling in About, but not in Audio. Actually, within Audio, the RPI is viewable for a split second and then disappears.

I moved a small Schiit DAC I have to the location of the RPI and connected it. Roon then sees the RPI/DAC fine.

Since I am using RopieeeXL, I turned on DNLA and Shareport and returned the connection to the Shanling DAC. Roon sees the RPI as a shareport and it will play under that setup. Also, Audirvana sees it as a DLNA point and it plays fine under that scenario.

Thus, there is an apprarent compatibility issue between the RPi4/Ropieee and the Shanling.

Anything that I have overlooked that I should check?

Send @spockfish a feedback from the advanced tab of the gui while the shanking is connected…then give it a few mins to send out the file. Make sure the shanking is powered on and the correct input selected.

Anyone else have any thoughts while I wait for Ropieee’s response?

Likely it’s not liking the shanling as a DAC. It might not have great Linux support for the controller side of the DAC. Developer will be able to tell you though.

Update: I installed a RPi3B with the Shanling and it seems to work fine. I think I will test Volumio or one of the others that can also be used as a Roon Bridge. So far, I am not a fan of Ropieee. Too hard to tell why it is not working.

Kind of surprised I didn’t hear back from the Ropieee developers yet.

You could have tried ‘friendly asking’.
And you made it clear that you’re not a fan.

So what exactly would you expect from me to do here?

You don’t have to do anything if you don’t want to. As for “friendly asking,” I thought that was the point of my identifier 5065550b7e55a9e0 submission days ago.

I thought the purpose of me submitting the feedback through the advanced tab was so that someone would look at what the issue was, and perhaps multiple people could benefit, even yourself.

Well you didn’t tag that post with Harry’s nic so he might not have clocked it. He doesn’t get paid for this you know…I hope that you send him a donation if you do become a fan

Thank you.
