Ropiee Support for External Antennas on CM4

Hello Harry,

On CM4 based systems, an external WiFi antenna may be added using the U.FL connector–a necessary option in systems with metal cases, like the Pi2 Design Mercury. WiFi signal strength and SNR improves dramatically with the external antenna vs. the triangle antenna on the CM4–the Mercury’s WiFi is almost unusable without it.

The problem is that the external antenna enable is a software switch controlled via a dtparam.

It would be great if RoPieee had an antenna selector or enable on the network configuration page for CM4 builds.

There is a nice writeup on Jeff Geerling’s site describing the dtparam and how it works.

Also, a plug for the Pi2 Design Mercury 2–what a fantastic streamer. I have found RoPieee to be the best option for it.

Thanks,

Michael

It’s not what you were asking for - but if you can spare a USB port - this works really well with Ropieee
