RoPieee / WiFi Channel 0 & Missing Update Notification

I am using UniFi USG/Switches/APs in my network…
A few days ago I noticed this warning on the UniFi dashboard
grafik

When checking the 2.4GHz connected client list I saw that the RaspDAC client (=RoPieee) is connected with Channel 0 which I never saw before.

The RoPieee client is working fine though.
I found no options to in the RoPieee web interface to check or change the WiFi channel.

The specs of the RoPieee installtion are:
RoPieee 2023.05 (0976)
Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Rev 1.2

Any thoughts on this would be apprechiated.

Hi,

First of all: you should upgrade to 2023.05.1

2023.05.1 has also an upgrade of the WiFi component that also takes care of the region stuff, so I’m curious if that changes it.

In general it works like this: RoPieee ‘knows’ in which region the unit is located and the WiFi component uses this to make sure it follows local regulations with respect to channels etc.

So normally this should not happen.

Please upgrade to 2023.05.1 and let me know if that makes any difference.
If it still occurs you can send me feedback so I can have a look.

Thanks

thx for the quick respone… I’ll do the upgrade later today… one question… the webinterface doesn’t notify me about an update being available… do I have to download from the homepage and install from the sd card for this version ?

That’s not good… Take into account that it can take up to 6 hrs before that message appears. Is the unit powered up that long?

Can you send me feedback?

Thanks

The unit is powered up 24x7 and I have no reboot schedule or auto-update enabled… the last reboot was today (shortly before I started this thread)… the last power cycle was 6 weeks ago afte a power outage…

the “update” to the 2023 version was done a few months back… (I did that like a install from scratch with a downloaded image)

Don’t want to divert attention from the OP here but fwiw I also don’t get the prompt for 2023.5.1 from 2023.5 - 6ee1ab693f4baf9d .

Ok let’s wait what it will say in a few hours.

Can you still send me feedback?

It will now in a few hrs

Thanks Harry!

sure. i’ll drop a line around 9pm

no update information so far…

Update regarding the OT: The Channel 0 problem seems not related to RoPieee… I saw some other devices (Android) displayed as “connected via Channel 0” as well… after changing the AP to a specific channel RoPieee connected to this channel and the view in my UniFi management was correct (before that I was using an Auto setting which should select the channel with the least interference)

Can you still send me the feedback?

no update information on my RoPieee system as of now… the client was online since we last wrote… I rebooted the client, but still no update information…

same here, four pies running RoPiee, no update notification despite them running 24/7. Do you need feedback, @spockfish?

yes please

can you send me feedback?

no update notification yet

But can you send me feedback from the ‘advanced’ tab? There a button there with ‘send feedback’. It will send me the logs.
