Ropiees disappeared after software update

I update the Roon server software on my Nucleus One the other day (to version 2.73 build 1696) based on a prompt from Roon. I also noticed that my two Ropiees running on Raspberry pi 5s needed updating. When I updated those, they are no longer visible to Roon and they aren’t accessible using ropieee.local or verox.local (both from PC and Pixel tablet browsers). The light on the front of the Rasberry pis are slowly flashing green

Troubleshooting steps:

I cycled power on one Raspberry pi (no effect)

Reloaded the Roon software on the Nucleus one and restarted (no effect)

Re-flashed the latest Verox image onto one raspberry pi (after letting run overnight, the light on front is flashing green rapidly)

Any thoughts on further troubleshooting steps?

as you are running 2 Pi’s, I would expect that they have different device names. And that also means you need to use those devices names in the browser. ‘ropieee’ and ‘verox’ are the default device names ‘out-of-the-box’, but you probably changed them…

This means that somehow the unit is not able to finish it’s installation. I assume that it has internet connection?

Thanks for the quick questions. I connected the raspberry 5 via an Ethernet cable, and it now gets to the slow blinking light state! As far as the other question, I did rename them, but don’t remember to what! Is there a way to find the name? I have an hdmi cable to connect to the pi 5 directly.

I made progress on the device name. I loaded a network scanning software, and found the rpi 5 that I updated with the Verox sw. It changed the name to Verox. So I then tried looking up verox.local, and it worked!

I’ve now found the raspberry pi 5 via the scanner and ropieee5.local. I guess I’m still puzzled why they don’t show up as an audio device in Roon.

Ok, I think I know what’s going on. I’ll report back in a few minutes

I had to reactivate wifi on the raspberry pi with the Verox sw and reconnect it to the Schiit modi 5 dac. I then cycled power on the dac, and it reappeared in the room audio devices page. The second raspberry pi 5 showed up in roon too. Not sure why, but now all is well. Thanks for sending me down the right path!

Two out of my four Ropieee (Pi 3B) didn’t survive the update unscathed. One didn’t reboot itself and was stuck with a constant red light. A power on/off fixed it. Another initially came back online then disappeared again from Airplay/Roon. I haven’t had time to mess with it since. TBH updating these devices is becoming very unreliable these days and the Airplay interface is prone to disappearing, needing a reboot. I usually expect one will need a power on/off to fix. All updates triggered from the web interface from each device, via ethernet connection.
