So I was listening late night to Max Richter’s Sleep in the living room and decided to carry on listening where that album is meant to be heard, in my bed!
So I transferred to the bedroom zone , wireless rpi3/boss/ropieee. But whenI got upstairs and turned on the amp the zone was no longer visible. I couldn’t access Ropieee on the network, and the 2nd green led had stopped flashing, it was just solid colour. Powering on/off didn’t help, remained solid colour.
This morning I have reformatted (FAT32) and reflashed the microsd card, plugged in a Ethernet cable and tried rebooting. But I’m getting nothing, just one green led now, the 2nd isn’t coming on, certainly no fast flashing to indicate installation. I have tried with a different card, same result. I’m at a loss as to what to do now, If anyone has any suggestions that would be great?
This sounds really weird.
Have you tried taking the SD card from your unit in your living room and plug that one in?
This way you can rule out software issues.
Thanks Harry. Unfortunately just the one RPi in the house (sotm downststairs). I’ve bought a new sd card in the hope the other 2 were dodgy, I’ll try again tonight and let you know how I get on. Fingers crossed!
ok, if you run into troubles again then poke me.
Hi Harry.
So I’ve bought a new 16gd Sandisk microsd, flashed latest Ropieee using etcher, put into RPi (w allo Boss) and turned on. No flashing lights, one green at front and red where power on. No light on Ethernet.
Has it died? Do Pi’s die, and if so why?!
Could there have been some sort of surge when I turned my amp on to the RPi?
Any help appreciated as ever!
wow.
can you remove the Allo Boss and try again? it sure sounds like it died
Yeah, there’s nothing wrong with the 3b model.
Calls for a sad RPi RIP
An epitaph:
Oh my sweet sweet Raspberry Pi,
I was sad you had to die,
You failed to blink, I don’t know why,
Now another I must buy.
RIP RPi 2017 - 2018
Thanks Harry for your help.
Hi Harry, sorry to bother again!
I have set up my new RPi 3b tonight, enabled Boss hat and WiFi. But it is not showing up in Roon settings as an endpoint to enable. I can access it fine over the network via wired or wireless, but nothing in Roon. I am concerned that the Boss may have died with the last Pi. I have sent you feedback if that’s ok…693aa4808883a34e
Thanks as ever!
Hi @olchon,
You’re not bothering me, don’t worry.
Looking at the logs I see that during the installation it failed when it needed to pull in the Roon software. That failed, resulting in not showing up in Roon.
Unfortunately it means you need to do it all over again. Please be sure that there’s network (cable) during installation.
Regards Harry
Harry, you are a star. Up and running and sounding great, thanks!
Now, is Allo Katana support on the road-map? I’m very tempted…!
EDIT: I’ve just seen your post from May, no need to answer, sounds like you have it in the bag…
