Running Roon Core On Apple M2 Computer

Is anyone running Roon core successfully on an Apple M2 computer. I keep toying with the idea of getting a new Apple Macbook Air M2 to run Roon and Apple Music, and possibly Audirvana.

Which Apple computer are you using and what issues do you have, if any? Or, is this something that we need to wait on a purpose built (can’t remember what that’s called) version of Roon?

I’d wait until the Apple silicon native version of RoonServer is available.

Roon, Audirvana Studio and Apple Music on both my 2017 MacBook Air and 2020 M1 MacBook Pro here.

The Roon Core is running on my Air. And services my Pro. I’ve also had a Roon Core installed on my Pro awhile back, and that ran without problems.

Roon, Audirvana and Apple Music work flawlessly on both Mac’s

Is there any reason to think the M2 would behave differently or is that an unknown?

I am running roon on a macmini m2.
It crashes every 20 minutes.

Then something is wrong with your install or your hardware because there are no known issues with Roon on Apple Silicon like that.

I just downloaded the application from the roon website.
Macmini delivered Friday and I’m really regretting buying.
It’s not used for anything else… No other apps running.

Michael: are you running the full Roon application or Roon Server on your mini? If it’s the first, you may want to switch to Roon Server for core duties – and use full Roon as a remote (even on the same machine). This adds some flexibility while it may also improve stability (until we figure out what’s causing your mini to crash in the first place).

Try a fresh install and make sure you have the apple silicon version and use a app that prevents your Mac from going to sleep

You don’t need an app to prevent the Mac mini from going to sleep. You can adjust the settings so it never does…

Yes, I think this is the answer  Thank you.

It is absolutely the answer. If you have a computer you intend to have hosting your roon core, if it’s not running ROCK or MOCK, it should be running RoonServer.

Keep the Roon app on the machine to use as the controller.

Hmm… i have my Mac Mini M2 for a week now and installed Roon the same day I bought it.
(Installer from the Roon-site)
Roon runs every day with multiple heavy EQ filters and no single problem :man_shrugging:t2:

I also set the Mac never to go to sleep when the screen is inactive.

I run Roon (full app) with HQPlayer on my M1 Mac, no problems.

Still running with no outages… thank you.
