Sadly, ready to walk away

I’m not sure if this post will get taken down or not. But I just had to put this out there. I’ve been a user for over 10 years. I was an early adopter. Pay my annual dues. Never bat an eye at it.

Always have been enthralled with the possibility of roon and it could ultimately be…

When it works, it’s phenomenal.

But sadly overtime it has just gotten so cumbersome and slow that it’s barely usable. Sometimes it works great- on certain days & other times it’s unusable and basically a brick. The inability to get a live support person given the amount of money spent on the product is just ultimately a dealbreaker at this point.

Meanwhile, if I bypass Roon and access any of my streaming devices throughout the house using their native software, I connect easily and play music instantly.

That’s the breath of fresh air that I’ve always wanted roon to be.

This isn’t a “woe is me” post, it’s obviously a product that I’ve willingly spent the money on, & I’m not looking for anything. Just had to put it out there. I think I’m done.

Yeah, it’s a difficult one.

Just earlier I was on the phone to a friend and we got discussing Zappa and when Hot Rats was released. I open Roon and it must have taken about 90 seconds to get Zappa’s discography showing. Is it my phone, my wifi, Roon, who knows, but I’m pretty sure it worked better a few years ago and I’d have had Zappa’s Discography showing up snappily.

I have a lifetime so I won’t be leaving but often Auralic’s Lightening app accesses my library (stored on a USB drive connected to my ROCK machine) quicker than Roon does.

In fairness though these areas are the ones that Roon seems to be working on at the moment.

I agree 100%. There is no real Roon support. Music is supposed to be relaxing me, not giving me technical stress trying to update graphics drivers.
