On Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 after leaving Roon app in background for at least 3-5 minutes and re-entering app it shows black screen and is iresponsive for a minute or so and then reappears. Music plays on boxes undepending of that. I`ll captured an ADB log with that which i`ll upload to you.
Describe your network setup
Roon server on minipc core i7 gen 12, 32 Gb ram, 1 Tb ssd, wiim ultra direct connected to asus AC87U router connected to ZTE fiber modem as bridge on RDS RCS Digi Romania
I`ve uploaded the ADB log obtained at 18:10-18:28 hour (somewhere between) on 04.12.2025 as adbRoon.zip (https://workdrive.zohoexternal.com/collection/8i5239cc05950ac07456889838d9319545a82/external)
Thanks!

Thanks for reaching out with your message and for including the ADB logs. I’ve forwarded the log set to our team for review, but the Roon logs from the device would also be useful to have. When you have a moment, can you please open the Roon app on the Galaxy Tab and use it for at least a few minutes, so that a diagnostic package is delivered to our server? Let us know here after you’ve done so, thanks!
At 23:20 EET I`ve opened Roon app on Samsung galaxy A8 tablet and using it for at least 10 minute playing Tidal through Wiim Ultra to CXA81 and my minipc Roon server. You can see the logs remotelly because of ADB?
Thanks for sending those over @Razvan_Seiciu our development team will take a closer look and should have more information to share soon.
In the meantime, if you delete the Roon mobile app and perform a fresh reinstall, does the same issue occur right away? Or, does it take some time before it happens again?
Ive uninstalled the Roon on tab app and reinstalled it. As on the other case Ive unrestricted battery time and set keep screen awake checked and enable lock screen controls in Roon app. After 15 minutes in background there was no problem of responsiveness. So i tried a second time after 28 minutes and there was a little 2 second responsiveness (freeze) but not a black screen. I`ll test this later in the morning.
The fact that 60 minutes in the background triggers this symptom is key - even with battery optimization settings disabled, Samsung/Android tablets enforce aggressive energy settings and will target apps that remain open. The OS is probably purging Roon’s cache and tearing down its network sockets after an hour in the background.
RAM or memory pressure will likely prompt Android to throttle Roon sooner. Do you have any other apps running concurrently in the background with Roon when this happens?
The team has a ticket in the pipeline and is looking into this further. We will update you on our progress here.
No, whenever Roon app is in background for more than 5 minute, single or not, responsiveness is degrading from a few seconds to 30 seconds at one hour (android 14 or newer). The other app in background sometimes is Wiim home app and it never experience that problem. But on Samsung galaxy S20FE and android 13 ui 5.1 I didn`t see the responsiveness problem.
Thank you for the detailed follow-up and for continuing to test different scenarios — this information is very helpful.
We’ve added your latest observations to the existing R&D ticket. The team is actively working on this issue, as it appears to be related to how newer Samsung/Android builds handle long-running background apps.
At this stage, there are no additional troubleshooting steps we can provide from the support side. Further improvements will come through development work.
Please keep an eye on our Release Notes section — any changes or fixes related to this behavior will be documented there once available.
Thank you again for your patience and for helping us narrow this down.
