Describe the issue

Subject: Samsung HW-Q990F (Region XZ) Roon Ready Discovery Failure on Windows/NAS

Device: Samsung HW-Q990F/XZ
Firmware: 1013 (Latest)
Serial: 6USN14BY900502R

The Issue:
The soundbar works perfectly as a Roon Ready device when the Core is on macOS.
However, when the Core is on Windows 11 or NAS (Host Mode), the soundbar is NOT discovered via RAAT (only AirPlay appears).

Troubleshooting:
- Firewall/Antivirus disabled on Windows.
- NAS Network set to Host Mode.
- Soundbar factory reset and updated.

Since it works on Mac, the hardware is fine. This is a specific firmware protocol discovery bug with Windows/Linux Cores. Please investigate.

Describe your network setup

Simple flat network setup: 1. Router: Standard ISP Modem/Router combo. 2. Roon Core: Connected directly to the router via Ethernet cable. 3. Samsung Soundbar: Connected to the same router via Wi-Fi (5GHz). All devices are on the same subnet. No managed switches, and no mesh nodes.

Hello @Brian_Guo

Thank you for reaching Roon support.

We enabled the diagnostic mode on your device.

For some reason it is not reaching our servers, even after I tried re-enabling diagnostics on your account. I also ran a quick test and I was able to submit a similar report from my setup here, so something else is going on.

So we can move forward, I was hoping for now you could use the directions found here and send them to our Logs Uploader Service and let us know after, thanks!

Hi Vadim,

I am writing to share some good news. The issue has been successfully resolved.

After performing extensive troubleshooting (checking logs and testing different Cores), I decided to do a complete reboot of my entire network infrastructure (router, switches, and the NAS host).

Surprisingly, after the full network restart, my Roon Core immediately identified the Samsung HW-Q990F as a Roon Ready device via RAAT.

It appears to have been a transient network glitch or a “zombie” multicast state in my network equipment that was specifically blocking the discovery of the Samsung soundbar, even though other endpoints (like my FiiO) were working fine.

Everything is working perfectly now. You can go ahead and close this ticket.

Thank you for your quick response and for enabling the diagnostics mode!

Best regards,
