Problem with changing landscape to portrait and vice versa. iPad mini 5 with latest OS and Roon Remote - when I change landscape to portrait and vice versa the image often disappears and the screen goes black. If the problem is known, please tell me how to solve it, if not, I'm reporting the problem.
After reading your post I doubted that this was a Roon issue but rather an issue for Apple to resolve. I believed the front lens of the iPad’s ambient sensor was actually the culprit. I also thought you might be periodically blocking the sensor with a finger/hand.
But following some test and turning off the sensor I reproduced this easily even following the latest IOS update and a hard reset. Neither resolved this issue. Furthermore Roon is the only app that replicates this behavior so far on an iPad that I tested.
I understand and thank you for your insight.
I just wonder why it only happens with Roon. Apps like Audirvana or JPLAY do not “blacken” the screen at all.
And by the way - iPad with iPadOS is rather a sophisticated product, and here is such a surprise…
Hi everyone,
Thanks for reporting this bug. I will put in a ticket with our developers to investigate this further. I cannot give you an exact timeline on the investigation. However we will let know know here when we learn more.
Hi everyone,
I’ve spoken with our developers about this case and they need some more information to proceed. They asked for you to share a video of the screen turning off if you can. Please use this link to upload the recordings. They also asked for you to upload the logs from the iPad after making the recording. You can use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader. Thank you in advance for your help with this investigation.
Hi everyone,
I wanted to give an update on our progress here. Thank you to @Singleton for the screen recording and logs! We’ve managed to reproduce this bug in house and our developers will be able to move faster on this due to that. I still cannot give an exact timeline but this is good news!
Unfortunately that’s not the case for Roon version 2.0 (build 1490) production running on iPasOS Version 18.1.1. 4th generation iPad Air. The situation remains the same.
