After having had the local “Filter” feature pointed out to me, I’d love to see that be used as part of search.
I often feel like search is perceivably slow: it takes 1-5 seconds for me after typing in an artist or album name. I’m less bothered by this when searching for something that’s not in my local library, but I tend to really notice it when I know it’s something I own. For clarity, I doubt I’m experiencing any above average bandwidth or latency problems from my core as I’m running on a Mac Mini M1 with a 400Mbps internet connection.
In contrast, going to “Artists” or “Albums” and clicking “Filter”, the searches are perceivably instant. Could Roon perform a basic local search and a “global” search simultaneously and load the results in progressively? I imagine this would speed up the wait time for search for simple queries for people (depending on library size and host machine) and also remove the dependency on cloud services for search.
