Thanks for taking the time to write in! Sorry to hear you’re having issues with search. We released a handful of updates related to search performance, but these updates were only applied to the current 2.0 production of Roon.
Unfortunately, your best next step here would be to update from 1.8, here’s more information on what that would look like:
That answer doesn’t help at all.
I find it incredible that you just hand me an article and basically suggest “get on with it”.
So:
What download option should I use?
Mac all in one?
Mac server?
Am I upgrading the core on my Mac mini.???
Then what do I do about controlling roon from my iPad?
Is there another download for that?
So now I used the all I one Mac link and downloaded it to Mac mini- no idea if it roon 2.0 but I have to assume so.
Now I downloaded the same to my iPad - and now I have roonl legacy 1.8 icon and then a regular white roon icon- I open that and it DOES NOT connect to the core.
All of this is in the article. You have to upgrade everything. 2.0 and 1.8 don’t work together, it is either-or. The article is more comprehensive and mature than support could probably write in a post here. Also take note of the red box at the end of the article. I.e., read the whole article to understand if you want to make the switch.
The Core on the Mac Mini: If you were using the all-in-one with 1.8, you will want to use the all-in-one with 2.0 If you were just using the Roon Server on the Mac Mini with 1.8, you will want to use the Roon Server with 2.0.
Note that there are two sections in the article with links: Download Links for Roon Core 1.8 (Legacy):
and Download Links for Roon Core 2.0:
Choose the download link from the appropriate section.
For the iPad, the link for 2.0 is also in the article, in the Download Links for Roon Core 2.0: section, under Download links for your Roon Remote:
Where you find this link (or you can simply search for Roon Remote in the App Store on the iPad)
