Separate my local files from streaming services

Hi!

How do I separate my streaming services from my local files.

I do not want them to merge, there is no point in Roon offering me tidal when I have local files of higher quality.

Thank you!

What do you mean by separate? To really separate them, I believe you have to disable the one you don’t want. So if you want both, then there is no real way to separate them in Roon. Make sure that in cases where your local files are of higher quality, you mark those as primary version. Read more about tweaking source preferences to your needs in:

You can also use Focus > Storage Locations to show only the local files.

I used focus>Storage location, then made a bookmark for “local” files and “Tidal” files.

Thank you for the replies and the tips. I find it quite odd as to why Roon will always favor Tidal over local files. I have the same album asa favorite on Tidal when I’m on the go, but I also have the album locally as higher quality FLAC. One would think Roon would favor the highest quality, but it doesn’t for some reason.

I thought that local files are automatically the primary version but maybe I am wrong. To me, the streaming preferences help page seems to say so,

and I thought that this has always been my experience. But like I said, maybe I am wrong.
In any case, you can make the local copy the primary version in the Versions tab, but you have to do it for each album

I was under the same impression, from recollection and some very quick testing this evening Roon presents me with my local version as the primary. If I want to play the streaming version then I have to go and specifically select it, however I use Qobuz rather than Tidal. I wonder if OP is talking about MQA albums in Tidal and the streaming content preferences are set to prefer MQA? That’s the only thing that I can think of.

Are you talking about when you press play in Roon on one of your library albums or are you referring to what roon radio feeds you?

I present them like this and click on the version I want to hear…
