I’ve just finished a playlist of Depeche Mode’s recent gig in Spain. Second to last song was ‘Never Let Me Down Again’ followed by the finale ’ Personal Jesus’.
Guess what the first song chosen by Roon Radio was?
‘Never Let Me Down Again’…again. From the same album!
How has that happened,? And it’s not the first time I’ve seen something of that nature - I often play a single tune from say New Order and the first choice from Roon Radio is exactly the same song I have as a duplicate import on a different CD.
The algorithm needs some work…
@kwangomango, just a fellow user here. Is Roon Radio accessing only local files or tracks from Qobuz and/or Tidal in your library? I have only local tracks, but a very wide selection of music (about 20k tracks across 1400 albums with many different genres). Roon Radio works on these pretty well, partly based on my playing a large number of different tracks and genres. While I get repeat tracks, they do not appear very often, although groups/artists sometimes get repeated more than I expected.
Roon Radio’s Valence machine learning approach works only across Tidal and Qobuz subscriptions (local libraries use a different algorithm that is less capable, but for me still works well). Valence (and the local algorithm) works best across a broad listening history. What you have experienced isn’t new unfortunately, but Roon continues to develop and evolve Radio.

I have the same issue (play a record, record ends and Roon starts picking songs, within 3 or 4 it plays songs form the album I played at first)
I would think it shouldn’t do that when it can pick anything from my library or from Qobuz.
When that happens is that a big/error that support can fix or it the reco algo not reliable?
I too see this problem using local (NAS) files only. In the instances I checked roon played an alternate version back to back.
I would prefer not to hear this unless manually telling roon to do so. A tweak of don’t let roon automatically re-queue a song until +50 other songs if variant eg studio/live/rerelease and +100 if same song.
Better yet if configurable.
What I’d really like is for someone from Roon to comment on at least one of the many Roon Radio threads and say whether there are issues which need fixing or not.
