Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· I just tried to download the latest up date and my server crashed. I am running Roon through my QNAP server.
I downloaded the latest firmware and updates and restarted QNAP a few time nothing worked.

· I am plugged directly in Verizon Gateway 1100 router without extenders or VPN.

The native Roon Server package no longer works on QNAP, so please switch to the official Docker image to run Roon Server on your NAS.

HI, I was able to download the Container Station app. However I am stuck on step 3 of the guide. How do I “Generate the Docker Compose File?” Do I have to type the link somewhere? What am I missing?

Welcome to the community!

You don’t need to manually type any code or “generate” a file in a complex way. The Docker Configuration Generator is just a simple webpage tool that does all the heavy lifting for you.

How to use the Generator:

  1. Click this link: RoonServer Docker Configuration Generator
  2. Once the page opens, you will see a form on the left side under the Platform dropdown. Select QNAP.
  3. As you select your options, the black box on the right side of the screen will automatically update with the exact YAML code (the configuration file) you need.
  4. Copy that code: Click the small “Copy” icon (it looks like two overlapping squares) in the top right corner of that black code box.
  5. Paste it into QNAP: Go back to your QNAP Container Station, choose to Create a new application, and when it asks for the Compose/YAML content, simply paste what you copied from the generator.

A quick tip for Step 3: Before you hit “Create” in Container Station, double-check that the folder paths in that pasted code (like /share/Container/roon) actually exist on your QNAP. You can verify this by opening File Station on your QNAP—ensure there is a folder named Container and a subfolder named roon inside it. If those folders aren’t there, create them first, otherwise, the container won’t know where to save your music database.

Give that a try and let us know if the Container Station accepts the pasted code!

Wanted to follow up on this and see if you had a chance to try the Docker Configuration Generator with the Platform set to QNAP. Were you able to copy the YAML it produced into Container Station, and did you confirm that the /share/Container/roon folder path exists on your QNAP in File Station?
