Server requires restart, Hegel misbehaving

Hi, I hope someone can help.

my Roon server has been faultless for a few years. I turned it off when we went on holiday last weekend. For some reason now it seems to loose power/ethernet and stop working with the Hegel H120. My fear is its a power issue on the server;

It’s a custom finless Intel i7 with HD Plex GaN and jCat Net Femto card. I have never been able to get both in and out of the network card working so the input is on the main board and the network out is direct to the Hegel. When the server looses connection, Hegel looses its Roon Ready tick.

Force restarting the server seems to fix the problem for a while, it takes longer than expected to see the Hegel (Wiim Amp on wifi shows first).

And now, when I rebooted it seems to have reset everything to factory settings.

If anyone has any ideas or a way to see a log please let me know.

Happy Listening.

Hello @Louis_Eastman ,

Thanks for your message. I am looking over your account diagnostic and it looks like your Hegel wasn’t able to get a valid IP according to your ROCK. Have you by any chance tried to perform a full reboot of your router yet (unplug for a few min)? Is the router running the latest firmware?

The router has been turned off, but I can try again.

As of today I can’t get the Roon app to see the server on the network at all.

Do you know why previously the server rebooted into set up mode? Hard drive failure?

Interestingly I can see the server ‘rock’ on my network through my Mac.

If the last reply, off it wasn’t clear the server was restarting fine, then on three occasions on restart (by holding down the power button) it comes back but into the startup page where I have to re-login to Roon & Tidal etc. It has some music, but lost settings such as zone names and backup locations, so I guessed a recover install?

Hi @Louis_Eastman,
I think the next step here is to take a look at your logs. Can you please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?
