Set default volume per speaker in a group

I’d like to be able to set the default volume for a speaker. Some speakers, such as the KEF LSX II or KEF LS50 W2, allow you to set this in the KEF Connect app, but others don’t. I’d like to be able to do it in Roon, both when playing through a single speaker, or for each speaker in a zone.

If there’s already a way to do this please let me know!

It’s not entirely clear what you are requesting. Group zones inherit the volume for each device (if volume control is available.) There is no master volume control for a group, which is the subject of this request:

I’d suggest to rather have something like this: Better an additional “Master Fader”, so you can easily correct the matching between specific zones. Trouble is, every device has its own “step width” (i.e. how many dB does a step up or down mean). So if the levels are matching for all zones at - say “50” it doesn’t necessarily mean it still matches at “30” or “70”. I really like the ability to group my Roon ready components, but I’d like to suggest a tweak. Can you develop a ‘zone’ definition? In other words, my listening room might include my Cyrus 40T, but if I have a dinner party I might want to create a ‘downstairs’ group with the Cyrus and my Mu-So which is in my dining room and maybe my Pulse M in my kitchen. Then, after the party, if I want to go back and listen to the Cyrus on its own, I need to manually ungroup. It would be nice to be able to …

Or are you suggesting that a zone, irrespective of it being grouped, should have a default level? If so, how is this used? There is already a comfort level for zones with volume control.

I’m asking to set the default volume for a speaker, whether it’s grouped in a zone or not.

I.e. if I start playing to a speaker, whether individually or as part of a group, the volume is initially set to the value that I want.

Does that makes sense? This is different from any of the “Volume limits”, it’s not a limit, it’s the default initial volume whenever I start playing through a speaker.
