Setting up an audio interface with many channels

I’m using an Antelope Audio Discrete 4 Pro Synergy Core.

The device connects via USB and has 20 ASIO channels. I’d like to set the Roon playback channels to 19 and 20 instead of 1 and 2, is there a way to do this?

Are there plans to make this possible in the future?

Hello @Miyulab and welcome to the forum.

Disclaimer: From another Roon user like yourself.

No, not inside of Roon. Roon is a (simple) playback software and not an Audio workstation. It also doesn’t come with a configurable virtual soundcard to solve such audio routing issues. I’m sorry but you have to search for a solution outside of Roon. There were other, similar threads in the past that you can find using the search function of the forum. Sadly I can’t remember if any of those contains a solution (software) found by the user.

There are no known plans currently and Roon Labs doesn’t provide a roadmap or similar. Their publicly shared plans for the immediate future are the Software Release Notes for the early-access branch of Roon.

Can this not be done via Procedural EQ or does Roon not allow addressing / recognizing arbitrarily large channel counts on an ASIO device?

There’s also the option of HQPlayer which would allow this sort of channel mapping
I don’t use Roon itself for playback, everything goes to HQPlayer so I’m really not familiar with Roon’s internal DSP functions or channel limitations.

No, Roon will only use channels 1 - 8.

That’s lame.

Yeah, so basically there’s a bevy of options for handling this via a virtual soundcard and software of your choice, or HQPlayer.

HQPlayer rocks anyways so it’s something to look at.
