1 local stored tracks (on SSD instaled in Nucleus) take 3 to 10 seconds bevor starting playing. Sometimes ronn stops playing and you need to push play again.
2 sometimes Qobuz files get shown as “not available” in queue even if they are available. The message is flipping on and off. Sometimes the track get skipped, sometimes everything stops, sometimes the track get played even the message “not available “ is shown. This is now permanent the case.
3 sometimes (say twice an hour) the connection from the iPad Pro last generation newest iPadOS to roon server is lost. No function on the us. Restart of roon on the iPad fix it for a certain time.
4 Most function have long response time. Example: open the queue take 5 to 30 seconds sometimes nothing happens. Or it takes 15 second to build the Home Screen with all sections.
Thanks, seems I have to make an investment into new WiFi APs. But it concerns me that I run my roon installation since 2020 with these network infrastructure and the described issues occurred of a sudden a few days ago.
There have been changes in the downloaded Roon software recently, and very likely changes in the backend cloud services as well. These may well result in new behaviours in networking and show up shortcomings that have not been seen before…
Hi, funny enough, I changed the WiFi AP in my home network, now it is all AVM, FRITZ!box and Fritz repeater but no change. The Probleme was still exactly the same.
May be you don’t believe it, but the reason for all problems is just one CD I stream from Qobuz and this CD was always in my Queue because I played Christmas songs the last few days.
The CD is from Nora Jones
If I remove the CD from the Queue everything works well. If I add the CD all the described problems earlier in this thread show up directly.
Songs from Qobuz get shown as unavailable even if they are available, roon stops playing, doesn’t matter what I try to do on my iPad, no reaction.
One other funny issue. If I search for “nora” I get an error massage, roon search not available, see screen. If I search for just “nor” I get a result including Nora Jones.
There were always (also before the current issues) some reports about certain search terms leading to a “can’t connect to Roon search” message, or sometimes even a crash. No idea if that’s more common now or leads to extended performance issue
Yeah but search is also backend based anyway. According to Nathan‘s posts in the thread about poor daily mixes there are many different backend services that are responsible for different aspects in Roon. And it’s not obvious on the surface what the relationships are. (Like one would maybe think that daily mixes and Roon Radio are closely related, but if I remember correctly they are not). So depending on the state of these services it may sometimes affect only one part of Roon and, I suppose, sometimes there might be interactions.
It’s fun to speculate but ultimately probably not very successful without being a Roon developer. I suppose users can contribute best by describing what they are seeing in detail.
Thanks for your support.
Short update.
Since I have removed the Nora Jones CD from my Library the described problems don’t occur anymore.
It still takes 4 to 6 seconds to generate the Home Screen or to load the queue etc.
But the search for “nora “ generates still the error message “can’t connect to Roon search “. All other search requests deliver a result no error message.
Maybe something in the roon database is corrupted.

Roons search is problem they seem to have created themselves and since moving to full cloud has been even worse imo. They have made it way more complicated than it ever needed to be. Arcs results for The The an artist I have several albums in my library from. Takes over 30 secs to return this
Call me old fashioned but a library apps sole purpose is to help find and be able to play music you have. In this primary task Roons search fails time and time again. This is only one example of its constant failings.
I strongly believe it is a different problem if you can’t find something which is in your library or if you get the error message “can’t connect to roon search”.
First thing is clearly a problem of the search engine. The second is a problem that the search service isn’t available or couldn’t find which is a generic system architecture issue.
Thanks for reaching out and apologies for the delay in getting back to you here. Can you please confirm if this issue is still occurring even after updating Roon to the latest version? We made a bugfix regarding search performance, which may have helped with your situation as well.
Hi noris,
Problem solved mainly after I have deleted the Nora jones cd from my library, as described in the thread.
But I have still delays of several seconds between two tracks if I have mixed tracks from Qobuz and local storage in my queue. All devices are updated to the latest release.
