Hello @Hoa_Pham

Thank you for reaching Roon support.

Would you kindly confirm that you have followed this guide:

Especially step three, which describes how to allow access for the SMB V1 in the Windows systems.

I ask to share the USB attached SSD drive with Windows PC, not internal drive.

@Hoa_Pham Can you please repost your screenshots - they didn’t come through in your first post. Thank you.

PS. Did you use a local Windows account (not a Microsoft account) when setting up the folder share in Windows?

You need to enter the username and password that you have given access permissions to for the shared folder in Windows - and, as I said, these need to be those of a local Windows account.

Have you actually shared the folder? The screenshot of the Windows Network File and Folder Sharing screen has a “Share” button showing - did you click this and add a local Windows account with read/write permission for the Music folder?

Also, for Windows, you should use the Windows form for the network share address, not the SMB format. i.e.
\\DESKTOP-NQAI1S2\Music

Yes I added read/write permission to my user as the owner of the account.

It must NOT be a Microsoft Account, i.e. with an email address format

Yes I tried different names and combination including smb://10.0.0.202/Music

It works with this workaround, I can’t Add Network share from Roon app, but I am able to see the Roon data files on the USB drive attached to the One by: (Windows, not Mac OS so might be different)

  1. click on This PC, choose Map Network Drive
  2. Choose any drive letter, enter \NucleusOne
    Windows login name
    Windows login pw
It will see the NO, then click that.

Now you can see the NO’s USB drive listed as a storage device in your PC’s drive list.
I can then move files back and forth between NO and your PC. I can create a backup of Roon db on One’s USB drive and move it to my pc as backup, or cut/paste new music files from PC to NO.

Hi @Hoa_Pham,

Diagnostics show that your Nucleus One is actively scanning a network share location containing thousands of library tracks. Are we correct in assuming that you’ve been able to resolve your issue with the above workaround?

Please let us know if you require any further assistance and we’ll respond promptly. I’ve tentatively marked the previous post as a Solution in the meantime, which will set a two-day autoclose timer on the thread. We’ll watch for a response in the meantime in case we can help further. Thanks!

It is a workaround, not a solution as per my initial post. I need Roon to ascertain how to add a Windows shared file to the Roon app. This has been an ongoing issue as reported from few Roon users and never got resolved. Thanks
