The battery needs charging.
The weather isn’t suitable either.
So we’re cooking outside.

@godot sweet trail!
Some more trestle bridges, along the High Country Rail Trail. A beautiful trail, although here “High Country “ does overstate elevations compared with many places.

Looks absolutely stunning, I’d love to ride that area sometime.
We were heading to Thredbo every year after Christmas for a week (sadly no more for a while), driving from Adelaide. I love the drive along Lake Hume and always stop at Black Sheep in Corryong for a superb coffee and feed. It definitely one of my favourite areas in all of Australia.
@godot It looks awesome. Those trestles look a bit sketchy….
Similar fascinating upgrade and customization options. ![]()
I wonder if we happened to race each other during the amatuer cup days back in Big Bear. I used to race that series back in the 90’s.
Speaking of Ventana … my then girlfriend (now wife of 20 years) got a chance to shuttle this in Downieville back in ‘03. Super fun (and still can’t believe she trusted me enough to get on the back).
Thank god spandex isn’t a thing for MTB anymore … LOL
Great photo!
Why do you need a car for a bike trip? ![]()
sigh
Canada. There’s just too much space between trailheads even for the fit bunch! ![]()

As soon as I saw the first photo with the cycling dedicated bridge ramps I smiled. An amazing place to cycle, especially coming from Australia where we are so far behind in providing cycling infrastructure. When we did have to ride on the road, it took us a while to get used to how incredibly considerate and accommodating other road users were.
Agreed. All the dedicated bike routes were terrific but the general attitude toward cyclists made the trip an absolute pleasure.
We did the Kettle Valley Railway ride last summer with kids but I had to hike it after suffering a Grade 3 AC separation on the jump right before A-Lines moonbooter a few days prior! I love getting air (even though I’m clearly not that great at it) but at 59 years old I think I’m near the end of my days sending bigger jumps.
Of course that didn’t stop me from hitting the parks in New Zealand in March with the kids!!!
Coronet Peak
A little “sendy” on Coronet
Cougar Bike Park (about an hour from Rotorua)
Queenstown
And the wife ended upon the podium after 5 days of the Volcano Epic (she was on the podium 4 of the 5 stages … she’s become a beast of a rider).
It was truly an epic trip and I can’t recommend NZ enough for ANY cyclist. There are epic road, gravel, and mountain bike rides nearly everywhere you go!
If you wanna check out some of the highlights check out the wife’s YouTube channel.
