The material is called Sylodamp, Sylomer or Sylodyn and i have purchased various hardness slabs of this from a distributor in pur country. He even helped me getting the calculations going initially. Sylodamp is very damped, and Sylodyn is the most âspringyâ.

I have two of the fans keeping my Sonore OpticalModule, OpticalRendu and their power supplies cool. Even at their lowest and quietest settings they do enough to stop them getting too hot. Sonore products seem to like generating heat, but they do sound wonderful.

mostly it is about imaging. Itâs sort of a Townshend light. It started with isolating the components from the glass surface of the rack. Most noticeable result was solo piano more easy on the ears. Under the power amp it is a lot less obvious. Maybe if I remove them again, but that is a two man job, so not anytime soon. Then under the speakers. That was the biggest difference, where the imaging changed. flipside is that a little of the attack has gone missing. It also takes a bit more power to reach the same level of sound pressure. My phone app DB meter usually hovers around the 75 dB mark, give or take 5. I have to turn up my AR LS16 another green spot or more to reach the same volume. Luckily I there is enough and to spare.
All in all a good trade-off.
I have no idea what this material is originally intended for, or if it has really been developed for the purpose. Sometimes it pays to go to the source, this is so relatively cheap it will hardly make a difference.

I am digging Roon Radio feature also. Really introduce a lot of artist and song i didnât know before based on the genre i like.

The manufacturer has to want to be Roon certified, if they donât there is little that can be done. If thousands of users contacted RME and asked them to enter the process the chances are it would be on the list.

I really like the look and sound of Avalon speakers. Never knew they sold them in glossy black finishes.
Well, they didnât. Someone had them painted. And did a bad job of it. Mediocre finish and very vulnerable, easily damaged so itâs not looking all that good.

i notice no degradation of sound quality
yes, i prefer a purely mechanical device. the selector makes a satisfyingly loud and visceral mechanical (not electrical!) âthunkâ when operating.
i also use a luxman AS-4-III line selector to select among three phono-stages from my turntable.

Household renovations now finished. The want for acoustic treatment was where it started, but his only kicked-off a chain of discussions with Mrs Tel that always went something like: âWell if we are doing A, then we should also do B too, but doing B seems like we are half-arsing it if we donât also do C, D and E too.â
The acoustic treatments ended up being pushed out to the last item. Two bathrooms, outside window frame resealing, fence and shed repainting, internal door frames and skirting repainted, new carpets in 3 rooms, new flooring for the downstairs gym and 5th bedroom, main living area wood floor strip and refinish - these all took priority.
After nearly a year, the final piece is now in place. Here is the finished result in the main listening area.

Mrs Tel is doing well. She has been fantastic in helping my recuperation after breaking my leg 9 weeks ago. The chickens are happy and also all now on the lay as Spring starts here Down Under.
Cats are also enjoying life. Our oldest, Kev, is approaching 16 years old and is having remedial injections for arthritis monthly now. They have given him a burst of youthfulness which is truly heartening.
As for Sid, well he needed to sign-off on all the works around the house, naturally:

I was not serious about the McIntosh subwoofer; thought you were aware of them (recently released). Each weighs 458 lbs and cost $50,000.
We have just traded a Jayâs Audio CD transport for an S812 REL. Expecting it in a few weeks.
I used to worry that your seasons were out of sync down there, but now I worry more about yâall just falling off into space.

I have a pair of 812âs they can be difficult to setup but definitely worth the effort. I finally set mine up using housecurve, a far easier solutionâŚ
I plan on having only one S812 to add some weight, do not know what housecurve is, wiring it seems straight forward and assume, I shall, over time, make adjustments. The REL offers more to our system than did the component which we traded.
A room measurement app that is quick, simple, and cheap, and works with iPhone/iPad. Some limitations, but really good results, considering.
