If it sounds good to you. Then that is all that matters.

Just added a new Node Nano to the bedroom nightstand Schiit Modius/Magnius stack. A variety of headphones are employed with this set up.

The 5+ year old Node 2 that was there before has been taken out of service for cleaning/repair.

Did you consider the HA-3A or you went with this one for any particular reason?

–MD

The HA-2A has 1000 mW , the HA-3A has 850mW. And the 2A is a bit cheaper as well

The HA-3A is better for people that are into tube rolling. They are easier to source and there is a bigger variety available.

The HA-2A uses tubes that mainly went into TVs / Radios and also McIntosh used some of them in a 70s tuner.

I just ordered a replacement tube set from the US for 45USD , with shipping and import Fees I ended up paying 70 euro  (Cayin wants 270€ for a set).

I sold some SMSL Equipment and traded in my old Cambridge CXA81 , so I got the HA-2A for a pretty decent price. That was my Main motivation. Try a tube amp and getting rid of my old gear

I have yet to purchase my first tube amp. I am hoping in the next couple of months I will and I have been reviewing what is available. The Cayin has my curiousity. I like the looks, the price point and currently have been reading reviews about each of them.

Your analysis is very insightful to the differences. Appreciate it.

Your elegant acoustic environment appears highly reflective. Is there any treatment or carpet further back ? My wife is a great enthusiast for clean minimalist aesthetics, but unfortunately so many cases are an acoustic disaster. (and even worse in restaurants where the resultant background noise level often impedes comfortable conversation …)

First came across Roon in action when demoing equipment at my local hifi emporium.
The equipment in question was a Linn NGDSM currently costing £35k…
This streamer and its associated audio chain was extremely expensive and sounded fabulous to my ears.
My lowly Linn Klimax DS/3 streamer does a great job presenting ALL genres of music to a very high standard via ROON/Qobuz.

I think you meant $3.5K

My bad. Wrong DSM. That’s an impressive price for a streamer.

Yep quality from Linn is expensive!.
My own streamer is the NGDSM’s predecessor.
Which was £18k when new.
I spent £6k on upgrades (Linn’s in house Dac the Organik); and the new Utopik power supply.
Its like a new machine now ,as the complete motherboard/dac was replaced by the new Organik board.
Most of my system is from Linn including my LP12 turntable.

It is a new machine now

And you paid twice for it

Previous to the KDS i owned the Akurate DS/ Katalyst for a good number of years, a very proficient streamer.
My retirement present to myself was purchasing the Klimax DS/3/Katalyst s/hand for £6.5k with the intention of upgrading it…i have the black version to match the others in my Quadraspire bamboo rack.
I took my “new to me” KDS into my local hifi dealer here in Glasgow to get a good listen to the Organik dac in another KDS and the big beastie NGDSM…
I’m told i get 80% of the £35k machine, i’m very happy with the result!.
I also upgraded my LP12 with a new plinth, Karousel bearing,Lingo 4 power supply, Trampolinn base and to finish the job a new lid/hinges!.
My wife got a new kitchen in our house extension last year…so its been a busy time all round.
I have Roon Rock /Qobuz for streaming and my own library on a nas upstairs.
I live about a mile from Linn HQ here in Waterfoot and have had “the tour” a few times…Sir Richard Rogers was their chosen architect for the ‘new’ buiding …opened by Princess Anne…Ivor never does anything by halves!.

I’ve done the same. I’ve had various Linn DS machines since 2008. I bought an old style KDS secondhand around twelve years ago, and upgraded, after a dem, to Organik and Utopik.
My KDS was up to the previous latest spec, and at the dem, I listened to my DS, a KDS upgraded with Organik and Utopik, and an NGKDS. I would agree with the 80% (at least). I felt the upgraded KDS was massively closer to the NGKDS, leaving my Karalyst version a long way behind.
I ordered the upgrades immediately!

That’s a bit of a dangerous statement :smiling_face_with_horns: I do more cooking than my wife !!

Maybe you should save up and buy her a new vacuum cleaner for Xmas

Wife is a much more of an elegant cook than me!,
I can cook an excellent steak dinner tho’!.
Her and the family gurls are just back from a short break on the island of Bute.
I managed to shake the dust off the walls with “moderate volume control” most of the week ’ cept for a rendition of Enter Sandman recorded and the live Moscow Airport version by Metallica .

The Dyson we have does a fine job…

Had a nice dem of Linn’s new 500 mono amps a week ago @ Loud N Clear’s underground dem suite.
NGDSM hooked up to the monos then a pair of Wilson Watt/Puppys…fabulous.
I had an invitation before Christmas at their ‘special’ off site dem room to hear the new 360 speakers,
Phenomenal performance for an eye watering price…

Waiting for a decent set of “old” mono amps to be available when the new 500 are purchased…

Present amp is the Akurate C4200/Dynamik hooked up to a pair of Totem Forest Signatures.

I used to be the proud owner of an LP12/Ittok/Troika when I was into vinyl and then a Karik CD player

I am simplified - ROCK → Naim Unity Atom HE , no speakers just 3 pairs of headphones

My wife did too, no HiFi upgrades this year…
