Beautiful equipment in this thread! I’d like to give an update on my setup, as I recently moved from the living room to the attic. So now I have a dedicated listening room at my disposal, which is really great. I can listen to any kind of music without (unwanted) feedback from the family.

The core of the setup is for stereo listening:

  • Dynaudio Confidence C2 mkII loudspeakers
  • Classé CP-800 mkII stereo preamplifier and DAC
  • Classé CA-2300 stereo power amplifier
  • Marantz SA-11S2 super audio CD player
  • Mac Mini M2 Roon Server
  • Audioquest Niagara 1200 line conditioner
  • Audioquest cables

The multi-channel part of the setup is still in build-up phase, as I have positioned the speakers, but did not get a chance to connect them yet. This part of the setup contains:

  • Classé SSP-800 multi-channel processor
  • Classé CA-5300 5-channel power amplifier (side, back and center speakers)
  • Oppo BDP-93EU blu-ray player
  • Philips 55" OLED TV

This is a picture of the room in its current state:

Kind regards,
Richard

Very tasty lineup there!.

My own setup is very simple …
Linn Klimax DS/3 with Organik/ Utopik.

Via Qobuz/Roon the end result is very good.

My trusty late eighties LP12 does all the analog work.

roon core mac mini 2024 > douk u2 usb to optical convertor > chord mscaler > wave stream bnc cables >chord tt2 > audiophysic spark 6 standmount speakers > JL Audio D110 Dominion subwoofer. (my chord tt2 is powering the speakers directly here for maximum transparency) (belden vintage cables for interconnects) (tt2 by xlr to sub)

Thanks. I do like simple setups. What speakers do you use?

Hi Dean, as a long time Linn owner i have had two pairs of Linn speakers ;Keilidhs and Kabers.
After those i discovered Totem Audio speakers from Canada at a hifi show many years ago.
First set of Totem Forests were great for a few years, then i walked into Loud n Clear Glasgow and saw the Forest Signature version.
Traded in my old Forests and have been very happy with the updated versions.
My pre is German the Bonnec Timpano and my amp is a Linn Akurate C4200 / Dynamik.
I have Chord Epic Supertwin speaker cable and bi-wire/amp them as they are biwireable cabinets.
My LP12 has the Ekos2 arm /Dynavector XX2 MK2.
Pre is a Linn Linto.
Recently upgraded the bearing to the Karousel replacing the older Cirkus.
Power is via a Linn Lingo 4.
A bog standard setup from Linn!.
I live in Waterfoot village outside Glasgow where Linn HQ is situated and have had a few guided tours over the years.

'81 klipsch heresy back in the system after replacing the (worn out) original midrange drivers … they sound great now

As a Canadian, glad to see the Totems. They are great.

Hahaha, yes. But luckily we have a second living room downstairs now.

Best performance per pound upgrade: bass traps / diffusers. Even though the location is not ideal, the effect is still remarkable. I would rather they were lower down but this is a shared space so everything is a compromise, and I wanted them for bass performance more than imaging. Now the bottom octaves can keep up with the mids and there is no chestiness on, for example, Radio 4 presenters.

some dark there  what for loudspeaker you using in your nice setup?

Nice setup there
Are they from GIK acoustics and are they just hooked on the wall? Asking for a friend

Yes they are from GIK, the Impression Series. They come with wall mounting kit using French Cleats.

Thanks for confirming that. The wife signed off on some a while ago but I didn’t pull the trigger. They would look great behind my Spendor D7.2 and would probably mean I could turn off the Room DSP to drop the low bass a bit, which helps at higher volumes.

Looking at their absorption spectrum, they don’t really seem effective at low bass, as I would’ve expected by their thickness.

For reference, see picture from diyaudioheaven

Certainly it takes the edge off. As you can see from the attached I have a uniquely bizarre listening space where the only parallel walls are floor and ceiling:

It helps in some ways but there are some strange resonances!
