The design is not everyone’s taste but I like them. They are probably a bit too small for the room, but the larger Xplorer speakers have become quite expensive. And anything bigger will probably not be approved by the other half anyway.

Just got my Lenco L75 (1973) back from revision, and bought some stuff for my working room. Roon Core is on my Workstation, with 10GB/s LAN connection to my NAS.
Eversolo A8, Gold Note PH-5, and some Focal Alpha 80 Evo active speakers.
In my living room, my setup is of higher grade. With Magico A5/A3/ACC, Soulution 331, Grimm MU2, Anthem AVM90 + Primare A35.8 and some players. Ceiling has integrated Ascendo Speaker for Atmos.

Office system update (I guess this is now a secondary listening room):
- Bryson BDP-1USB
- Marantz HD-DAC1
- Meridian 502 preamp (back in use)
- Meridian 557 power amp (new arrival)
- KEF LS50 Meta
I was using a Quad Vena II integrated, sometimes with its own DAC and sometimes with the Marantz. The Quad was good - very nice even, but with the Meridian amplification the system demands to be listened to. I’m planning to reorganise the room and zone it for listening and working - possibly with a compact sofa for what I might end up calling the music room.

love the KEFs in that color.
I had a 502/557 combination for a long time, along with a 504 tuner and 508.24 CD player. sounded fantastic. i began to move away from it when i started to move to networked audio, and stopped playing CDs. in retrospect, i probably should have just bought a meridian DAC and kept the analog portions of the system. ::sigh::

Many years ago I had the 551 integrated with KEF RDM One mini monitors, so the KEF/Meridian pairing feels like a coming home of sorts.

funny. I had 551 before the 502/557 combo. for those that don’t know, the 551 amp had very shard heat sinks on both sides, and there was a magazine ad that ran for a while in Stereo Review and similar journals, that had a picture of the amp, and the caption “Ribbed for Your Pleasure.”
wish I could find a picture of it somewhere.

Meridian were always really good at glamour shots of their gear - they still are really, even if they’ve withdrawn from traditional analogue hi-fi. I’d love a set of DSP9s if I had the money for them.
…on the subject of heat sinks, it must be said that the 557’s are extra-savage thanks to the 60lb weight and nowhere to really get hold of the thing.

Yeah, that rug thing really messes with my OCB tendencies. 
Here’s my living room system where modern day DIY (DAC), meets mid 00s (Pioneer SC-05 AVR, Analog Direct Out), and mid 70s speakers (Pioneer HPM-100). Sounds wonderful in that big room. I credit my DIY Streamer/DAC (IanCanada RPi series of PCBs) with an great implementation of the ES9038Q2M DAC, and to the SC-05 receiver. The Class D ICE amps tuned by AirStudio makes the music come alive. Clear and crisp, yet mellow and articulate and plenty of bass. Full bodied sound in that vaulted ceiling room. I love it.

A lot of people denigrate AVR amps, but my Pioneer Elite VSX-91TXH sounds great in Pure Direct mode with my highly modified HPM-100’s.

There’s something about that amp that really stands out. I’ve had 3-4 different(newer) AVR in my TV room, but only because the SC-05 had some dated HDMI interface that wouldn’t talk to newer smart TVs. My son used it for a few years in his bedroom for audio only. It sat unused for a few yrs in my basement, until I decided to put together a little system in our living room (that was largely unused).
I was quite amazed when I heard the sound of everything together in the room. Just very rich sounding. It’s not my main system, but I find myself relaxing there more and more, firing up roon and listening. Overall, great sound that I enjoy. Pure Direct is the only way to go.
