Signal path using Quad Vena II

I’m currently testing a Quad Vena II amp alongside a Rega Brio. With the analogue-only Brio I’m forced to use my Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 Digital DAC but the Quad has an in-built DAC. Both sound great but I’m leaning slightly towards the Quad because of its extra functionality.

However, when I plug my iMac directly into the Quad via USB, the final stage of the Roon signal path light is green (high quality) rather than purple (lossless). Although I can’t really discern a difference in quality, I presume it would be preferable to have that purple light. Not sure if this is relevant but the Quad doesn’t show up as an option in Roon so I chose ‘iMac system’.

Might this be related to the fact that the Pro-Ject is Roon Tested and as far as I can tell the Quad isn’t? Or am I just doing something wrong? (this is a distinct possibility!) Thanks.

It’s more likely to be how you have set up the USB connection between the iMac and the Quad, rather than the Quad itself.

What settings are you using?

Thanks Geoff. To figure out my settings I just disconnected the Pro-Ject and reconnected the Quad and now the light’s purple! I really don’t think I did anything different last time… Technology baffles me sometimes. Sorry for the false alarm
