As long as you dont need to use roon at home at the same time as in the office, just switch the license to an office roonserver. I used my laptop for that.
My office setup is simple but it also sounds very good.
I have a pair of Polk bookshelf speakers powered with a Schiit Rekkr mini amp.
I also have a Schiit Modi DAC and Schiit Vali3 amp/pre-amp all in service to a Wiim Pro.
This is just another endpoint in my main Roon system so I can sync all of my other rooms to this setup.
I just put into service a Roon Ready WiiM Pro connected to a Marantz AV8805a pre-pro.
The Marantz pre-pro does airplay (Roon); but I wanted Roon Ready synchronization from it, while grouping that 7.2 system, with 3-Roon Ready Audio Pro A10 MKII Wireless Speakers, “WiiM Edition” (which is an important distinction that = Roon Readiness).
I just installed the A10’s in other areas of the house. Their connection to Roon, was as simple & robust as any other Roon Ready device.
Additionally, I made use of a Roon Ready FiiO SR-11 connected to Vanatoo Transparent Zero speakers.
I’ve been using the Vanatoo Transparent Zero’s daily for approx. 8-years. They are self-powered, accept bluetooth connections (as well as other connections) and with either the WiiM or FiiO devices, they obviously become Roon Ready.
BTW, the Vanatoo’s have superb mid & upper ranges and for their size, they would be hard to beat. According to reviews, the Transparent Ones would be even better.
I’d consider the new WiiM Sound which can be used on its own or in a pair. This is Roon Ready and great sound at the price.
Got a WiiM Pro off eBay plugged into my Adam D3Vs. Works well. Not the greatest SQ but simple solution. ASR rated the Pro Plus a lot better but TBH for me in my study, it’s background music!
I know it doesn’t take long but irritating to have to do every morning and evening
You beat me to it. I reviewed the WiiM Sound at Henley Audio (distributor) and promptly bought one. A shame they didn’t have two avalable to try in stereo, but I imagine that would sound great (much better, albeit dearer, than the JBLs mentioned above - I reviewed those at the same time).
Purchased Audioengine A1 several years ago, and never looked back. I liked the small simple design. And they sound really nice. I bought the matching sub later.
I see they’ve changed the design a bit since mine.
