Single Album Not Showing in Roon Despite NAS Folder Import (ref#CUF63Y)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· Music won’t play or issues with my library

Music won’t play or issues with my library

· Local files won't import or appear

Tell us what's going on

· Folder Issue: I have over 3k albums. Roon points to one folder on my NAS. That folders has all the albums in it. Each album is in a folder of its own. They all show up in Roon. Except for one. I've followed the instructions, I've checked skipped files, I've changed the names on the track to something very simple. Then, out of desperation, I pointed Roon to that specific folder. Whaamo: it appeared and works fine. What's my next move? I would rather just have Roon point to one folder. Further, I'm concerned that there are albums that are not appearing in Roon. Thanks, John

Tell us about your home network

· Verizon Fios, Eeero Router, Ethernet to switch. PC, nucleus and streamer all on that switch.

What’s the folder name? Roon may ignore folders containing some strings.

I made it jgb1979-07-22test

Now, remember: It shows up in Roon successfully when I point directly to this folder. When I point to its parent folder it does not.

Thanks,

John

The code parsing the watched folder path may not be using the same ‘rules’ as the code parsing the folders below the root when scanning; I don’t think your deduction necessarily holds.

That notwithstanding, there’s nothing obviously ‘wrong’ (to me, anyway) with your folder naming, so I’m out…

OK. Roger, that. Thank you. I’ve never tried to change any rules. Happy to look at them, but not really sure where to start.

If you navigate to ‘storage’ in ‘settings’, and select the ‘three dots’ icon of your watched folder, then ‘edit’, you will see at the bottom of the popup a list of ‘ignored paths’ strings. I’m not convinced they are the same for every implementation, but if any of the strings match a path under your watched folder, Roon will ignore it.

Norah Jones’s ‘… featuring’ got me; I’ve seen reports that Maroon 5 don’t show up either (because the folder name matches a ‘roon’ string) although they do on my system - hence the caveat above…

Thanks for writing in @John_Bartlett, and for the helpful tips @AndyR!

John, could you also head to Roon Settings > Library > Clean up library, and snap a screenshot of what you see? Don’t perform the library clean up, just take a picture of it.

Thank you!

Hi @John_Bartlett,

If you’re still having trouble, we’ll need one of the following to proceed with this case:

  1. a screenshot of the album in question and its parent folder from a file explorer

  2. a screenshot of the Clean Up Library page (see @benjamin’s post above).

We’ll watch for your reply. Thank you!
