Hi @michael_kidwell,

Thank you for your post.

This error indicates that the Qobuz API didn’t serve content to Roon before the audio stream caught up with the buffer.

Sometimes, this occurs because the DNS service assigned for your network can’t reliably resolve the URLs associated with Qobuz track streams, and RoonServer has to re-request them. We usually recommend checking this first, since your internet service provider can sometimes change the default DNS provider with router firmware updates.

Enter your router settings administration page and look for a section related to DNS. Assign Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) or Google (8.8.8.8) as the default DNS service. If you provide the make/model of router you use, we can assist with this step.

Another possible reason for Qobuz to download slowly to RoonServer is a bad network pathway - if you use a VPN with Roon, try disabling it or changing the geolocation.

Do you have any issues playing content in the native Qobuz app or web player?

We’ll watch for your response. Thank you!

hello there and thank you for the prompt response.

• we are not using a VPN.
• we are using a google AC1200 - Mesh WiFi System.
• there is no interruption/break using qobuz directly.

btw: roon plays part of track before “stuttering” and skipping to the next track. the amount it plays is not consistent and varies from track to track.

thanks for any help!

What is the data path from your router to the Roon server? Wired, or WiFi? Reason I’m asking is that Roon downloads tracks from Qobuz in a burst that can saturate WiFi, so if WiFi is also being used to serve tracks to the Roon endpoints, the download burst can cause the kind of play interruptions/skips you describe. The solution is to have a fully wired connection from router to Roon server.

Hey @michael_kidwell,

Are you able to access your Roon Settings > Services > Qobuz and review your playback quality? Is it set to Hi-res?

From a fresh Roon Server diagnostic report, we’re seeing playback failing with the below errors:

Trace: [System Output] [raatclient] GOT [24] {"status":"Dropout","samples":21504}
Trace: [System Output] [raatclient] GOT [24] {"status":"Dropout","samples":22528}
Warn: [zone school mac] Track Stopped Due to Slow Media
Warn: [school mac] [zoneplayer/raat] Too many dropouts (>3s dropped out in the last 30s). Killing stream
Trace: [school mac] [zoneplayer/raat] too many dropouts. stopping stream
Info: [zone school mac] OnPlayFeedback StoppedEndOfMediaUnnatural

If these issues are recent, I’d also give your router and network gear a reboot. How is your mac connected to your primary router?

Does this happen no matter the endpoint / audio zone you playback audio to?

Thank you!

thank you. my roon server is wifi…and has been for more than two years. the streamer is ethernet…i’ll try wiring them both to the router. thanks for the tip, ytb!

thank you. it only seems to happen at the far end of the network. but, there is a mesh “node” there. the roon server is wifi’d to the router. i’ll put it on a network cable. thx, ytb!

thanks. everything is working as expected. will be going to ethernet rather than wifi. YTB!
