Number of Tracks in Library

Don’t know where to find this.

Description of Issue

I have lost library entries and tags at some point during recent updates. Artists have simply disappeared from my tags list and some albums seem to have disappeared from my library
For one artist, all albums had disappeared from my library and the artist was gone from my tags - when I added one album back in the library the artist tags reappeared. Something is not right!

What are your music sources: local, Qobuz, TIDAL? Where is your local media.

My music source is Tidal. Local media is on a Synology NAS. There don’t seem to be all that many missing but are definitely some. It’s a little difficult for me to be aware of everything that is not there.

There were recent reports that TIDAL has removed some releases, most likely for licensing reasons, which has resulted in tracks being unavailable. Most likely, a new version of these albums is now available on TIDAL.

Could this account for you experience? Without examples and screenshots it’s not possible to know.

So one clear case was of two albums in my local library that were from the same artist and the only two I had from that artist. Both these albums disappeared and the artist tag also disappeared. I added the two albums back in and the artist tag reappeared as it had been before.
In another case the artist that disappeared was linked to just one Tidal album
I do know that I had recently made some changes in the settings for browsing settings and in particular to activate the new settings for multiple language information - I don’t know whether that could be related.
This also ties in to one thing that often annoys me - that you cannot add an artist to a tag without first having something from that artist in the library - I don’t see why that dependency should be there.

Totally fed up with tags and albums simply disappearing from library

Roon is becoming unusable for me except for streaming new music. I am fed up with going back to my library and finding that albums and artists that I have tagged have simply disappeared.

I am not going to fill in all my technical details again because I’ve raised this issue before and done all that and it simply does not get taken seriously, I get no reply.

It’s not easy to say exactly when the problem has happened because I only notice it when I go to find something and it has disappeared. I can only guess it has been during one of the database updates.

It just starts to make the whole main purpose of Roon completely useless - all the work I put in to building up my library catalogue just gets blown away.

It’s infuriating.

Hi, to keep all the history together I’ve merged your post into that existing topic.

Let me tag @support for you so they are aware.

Thanks. But I’m realising actually some of this might be a local issue on my network so that ROON has lost the path to some of my local files. I think possibly two things have happened, firstly that some tags on Tidal got lost in an update, and secondly that the path to some local files became invalid for a while … in which case it might be nice if that could get flagged up more obviously when it happens. I hadn’t realised that tags in the library would simply disappear, especially an artist tag just because an album belonging to that artist could not be found.

Hey @Gordon_Milligan,

Thanks for taking the time to write in, and for your updates so far.

I wanted to check in on your issue, and see if you were still running into connectivity issues with your local library?

Do you by chance have an available backup saved that predates you’re seeing? I’d create a fresh backup with your current database as well just to be safe.

Lastly, what are some specific tags that you’re no longer seeing? If you could provide a bit more detail around this, I’ll go ahead and enable diagnostics for your account so I can review the logging for clues.

If you’d rather do it yourself manually, please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader.

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply and attention. It seems that I had an IP address issue on my local network to my local music collection that I’ve now fixed. I had not realised that such an issue would cause all kinds of artist and album tags to disappear from my library. But having restored the correct path, they have now reappeared. I’m not sure that I quite understand why that behaviour should be expected… it still seems a bit odd to me as I would have thought the library would show content that had been added to it no matter that a source file had become unreachable. But I think the problem is now more or less resolved
