Description of Issue

Hello,

I’ve seen similar issues but none of the forum posts I found helped me figure out a solution to the problem I am having. Most of my songs seem to be playing normally. However, some of my songs won’t play at all, but rather they stay silent the whole time even though Roon shows the time marker moving from left to right with the playtime increasing and the purple light shining as it should. I’ve only noticed the issue with two albums so far, and in both cases all songs on these albums are having the same problem. These albums are Random Access Memories by Daft Punk and Down in the Weeds by Bright Eyes, if that is worth noting. These songs play just fine on other apps such as Vox and through Finder previews, and they worked fine on Roon the last time I tried to play them. No signs of corruption in Roon either.

Does anybody have any ideas as to what might be causing the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really want to listen to my vinyl rip of RAM! :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you everybody,
Brad

Edit:
For reference, my entire library is divided into two locations: My Tidal library and my local library, which is located on my Seagate external drive. None of the music in my Roon library is from my MacBook hard drive; both of the albums giving me problems are on my external drive as opposed to Tidal.

Hi @Brad_Westlund and welcome to the forum.

A picture of your signal path could maybe give someone a clue about what’s going on.

Hi @BlackJack,

Thanks for the response! Here is my signal path when I try to play “Doin’ It Right” off of Random Access Memories:

Do other 192khz songs play OK?

Hi @ged_hickman1,

Now that you mention it, I have tried my other 192 kHz rips and they seem to be giving me the same issue. As far as I can tell, all of my 192 kHz audio is not playing properly on Roon but is working fine elsewhere.

Thanks for replying, @ged_hickman1. Hopefully this will provide insight and help me solve the problem.

Brad

Hi @Brad_Westlund, if you play these same tracks to other endpoints do you have the same problem?

Can you share a screenshot of Device Setup for this device?

Hi @dylan,

I just checked and I am able to play the tracks in question through my laptop’s internal speakers (Built-In Output on Roon).

And here is a screenshot of Device Setup for my Scarlett:

Thanks for your help,

Hi @Brad_Westlund, are you able to play 192 content to this device okay outside of Roon? I looked into this device a bit and found some similar reports about this device outside of Roon, so I’m definitely curious to know if it’s Roon-specific or now.

Hi @dylan,

I just checked and yes, my 192 kHz files are playing correctly through my Scarlett FocusRite when I use the Vox app. I can hear the audio just fine and I am experiencing no problems. Here is a screenshot:

So, everything’s working fine on Roon again. Not sure how the problem got fixed but I can now play and hear 192 audio just fine through my Scarlett. Thanks to all who posted, this thread can be closed if needed!

Cheers,
Brad
