Something big is coming to Roon! đŸ’„

And there was me thinking it was the box set improvements :angry_face_with_horns:

Sorry Philippe but I believe the new feature is that you can pay a subscription to Nugs. It’s a live music site with US centric bands. I can’t remember the cost but it’s on the Nugs website. Good if you live in the US, you like the bands and would like to pay more monthly subscriptions though. Hopefully that sounds enticing. After you subscribe, I believe you’ll be able to use the Nugs api in Roon just like you can with Tidal and listen to live music gigs from Nugs. I like your suggestions though. An improved product for Roon would be of more benefit to us.

We’re all fairly confident that Roon is trying to ship Nugs integration, but we’re just guessing at the details. They might be trying to integrate Nugs video into the Roon app or even trying to play it over HDMI or casting. Or they might be making a new app for it - I’m guessing NARC.

I have to say, I’m a happy Roon Lifer but adding in Nugs doesn’t add any value to me. But to be clear, I don’t actually need any more value, it already gets it done for me.

I’m only interested in live music when I’m sitting in a concert hall or standing somewhere in front of a podium. I’m not sure if the population here that loves listening to recorded live concerts is the majority.

I would prefer to see improvements like “tabs” so that I can search on one tab, read an artist’s bio on another etc.

Or an option to change the “now playing” screen on the remote (TV) display to prevent burn-in

Others can probably mention lots of other nice-to-have’s

Especially as everything is MP3 unless you fork out $250 a year for hi-res.
Non merci.

Yes to tabs. I’ve been saying this since about 1.5 but it goes against the Roon concept of two or three extra mouse clicks to do anything. Nugs is probably ‘really cool’ and ‘something big’ for the developers, but a pretty big ‘meh’ from the rest of us, especially as there’s so much basic UI improvements that could be done.

I’ve got about 3,500 concert recordings in my local library, so opinions differ

Not a Nugs subscriber though, and yeah there’s other stuff that I’m much more interested in seeing in Roon.

How can you say you’re a deadhead without saying you’re a deadhead?

That or Phishhead.

It adds a huge amount of value for me. I’ve been a Nugs subscriber on and off for years but their app is lousy. If I can organizer my favorite shows through Roon, Roon will have my business for a long time.

Well, the majority of my concert recordings are jazz, but yeah my live music obsession started with tape trading Dead shows in college in the 70s.

To answer your question, I find that “I miss Jerry” works pretty well

Now you can add Bob to that list.

Sadly, yes.

Any updates?

They announced it today. It’s a price increase of the Nucleus One!

Love that they say something big is coming “soon” and it’s “right around the corner”. Now we’re 2 1/2 months later and still no word. Maybe it’s just me, but 20% of a year isn’t exactly “right around the corner”.

(for you math checkers: first post == 11/3, current date == 1/16, days elapsed == 74, 74/365 == 0.2027 == 20.27%)

I think you have missed this post from earlier - they obviously ran into some issue that needs to get sorted before release
