Something big is coming to Roon! šŸ’„

Definitely missed this. Seems like an edit to the OP could have prevented any confusion.

Would anybody call a Spotify integration a ā€œbig updateā€? Why would nugs integration be a such big thing for you?

It also doesn’t make sense to me that a nugs integration would mean so much work for them. They literally just have to stream their content using their API. What can be so difficult streaming their content?

Maybe some IT specialists here could enlighten me…

It would be one of the biggest things ever to happen for Roon, quite obviously, as it would virtually guarantee its long term survival

The IT specialist says that it’s impossible to know without having any idea about what exactly the feature will be and what the technical challenge is that they encountered.

It just make’s me think whether it’s really nugs that they work on.

Sure spotify would be great for roon. I just would not consider it as such a big update from a software perspective.

Any speculation here is senseless. Please, simply wait for their next update. Any further claims or asking makes no sense. Please, understand and be patient :dove:

Ok. Didn’t know that.

Hey! I’m an IT specialist in enterprise solutions - we get lots of requests without the requester having any idea about how exactly the feature will be used. :joy:

As a software engineer, I’m curious how you deal with that.

Yes, of course (same here), but without having an idea about the feature and the technical obstacles you can’t tell anyone why a feature is delayed.

Someone has to grill the requestor with questions and mockups until it’s understood or until they give up

@Peter_Ryan3 - I just want to be sure you know that some of us around here actually have a sense of humor and noticed the emoji at the end of your post. Don’t think too badly of @Suedkiez and @Marian, though. @Suedkiez carries a heavy support load here and I’m sure that can wear a guy down. And poor @Marian has been fighting the good fight in the name of science which involves battling with trolls day after day. If they’re a little slow to notice irony, we should give them a break

Side note: The next time anyone asks why Roon doesn’t have a public roadmap and doesn’t comment on feature suggestions, I’ll point them to this thread.

I did get the joke and meant to reply in a humorous way, didn’t think a smiley was needed

If I’m worn down today it’s more because of a certain island.

I’m glad to hear this

You and me both, my friend.

Exactly - my field is large scale healthcare IT ($100M project / year) and lots of requests are from medical staff who saw this really cool thing at a conference - not realizing the upfront privacy and security work is daunting. We won’t move on any project if patient value cannot be articulated and use cases documented. We have the luxury of saying no most times but not every time, Then we blanket ourselves with release forms.

I know @Suedkiez’s (AKA F1) well and he has dragged me out of the ditch of cluelessness many a times. Cheers mate

In my experience, the business user would prefer to change the current software system into the previous one.

IOW, the user doesn’t always know …
