tidal is all I use
So does each song play for approximately 30 seconds and then moves on?
If so it’s a Tidal issue.
Are you absolutely sure you are logged into your Tidal account inside Roon correctly?
With the correct paid for Tidal account as Roon does not support the free tiers.
That’s what it does, but my tidal account is active and why would it play each song for 30 seconds?
Because that’s what the streaming service does when it’s not recognized as being logged in correctly, it plays just a 30 second sample.
Please double check your Tidal credentials inside Roon.
Try logging out, reboot the Roon Server and then logging back in again.
Can you successfully play Tidal tracks outside of Roon fully?

Diagnostics indicate that a network outage severed the connection between RoonServer and Tidal, de-authenticating the session. This prompted Tidal’s own network to serve up the demo (0:30) file, pending reauthentication.
Did you navigate to Settings → Services → Tidal and see yourself logged in before either restarting or taking the steps @AceRimmer shared above?
Please let us know if this issue persists.
As it’s the underlying cause, we’ll want to troubleshoot the network outage. You mentioned a MacBook as your RoonServer machine - try hardwiring via ethernet to the nearest router or access point, if you haven’t already.
