I upgraded my ROON setup to v1.3 (build 196 the latest). I now do not have access to the Sonic Orbiter on the Audio Setting section of ROON.
I am able to see the microRendu and my android phone show up in the network list. They both also play as expected. However, the previously working Sonic Orbiter is not showing up anymore in the settings. So this is why I am thinking the upgrade of the ROON is the cause but I find that hard to correlate when the mR is working.
I can see the SO in the Sonare localhost web site. I have rebooted it and checked to see that it has the most recent software
Version: 2.3
Model: Sonicorbiter SE
IP Address: 192.168.0.111
MAC: D0:63:B4:00:D4:69
I am able to ping the IP address successfully with a windows 10 CMD prompt.
Did you check in the application switcher if it is still main application? Otherwise i would uninstall the app. Reboot and install it agin and make it the main app in the switcher.
The DAC is built into the KEF X300A speakers and seems visible from the Sonare Sonic Orbiter web site. I no longer ca see the SO on the ROOM audio setup page. It was there before and working.
tomorrow morning I will disconnect the speakers and SO and test it in my office where I have my music server. First make a direct connect to the speakers to see if they work. Then test as a networked ROON endpoint via the SO.
I uninstalled the ROON READY app and reinstalled. This fixed the discovery issue and ROON now shows the SO. The latest ROON upgrade to v1.3 broke the existing SO ROON READY installation.
Only problem I have now is that the variable volume control is no longer available in the ROON software. The volume is set to FIXED. This is likely a bug in the new software. I used to be able to adjust the volume level on the KEF X300A speakers (connected by SO) via my Android phone app. Now the app does not allow volume changes. Looking at the AUDIO SETUP in ROON shows that the only selection available for the SO setup is FIXED volume. It used to have more options.
Thanks that worked. I remembered setting that up months ago but when you do not look at the software settings for a while the location of these settings becomes a blur.
It would be nice if ROON setup a software plug-in framework where third party developers such, as Sonare, could plug-in a software configuration GUI into the main ROON GUI. It would make things more intuitive and centralized.
I just want to point out that there is no need to uninstall and reinstall the APPs. Worse case you go to Settings / RoonReady in the SE and just press Save to reinitialize the configuration. This restarts the APP as well. Also, if Roon does not see the unit its likely that the unit did not see your DAC.
I actually did go to SE and pressed SAVE CHANGES button. That did not fix the issue. If you are following along this thread you will notice that everything was working fine until I allowed the ROON 1.3 upgrade to proceed. Once that happened the SO was no longer visible in the network settings of ROON. I then went and did many things on the Sonare web page(s) running on LOCAHOST, including the instructions you just posted. Nothing worked until I did the reinstall of the SO app. I seems obvious to me that the ROON upgrade messed up the ROON READY setup in my environment. Maybe it does not happen to all but I need a reinstall to get back to speed.
