Hey guys. Good news. I’ve been talking with Andrew Gillis at Small Green Computer and purchased the ST and UR from his company. I’m completely thrilled. Huge improvement over the sound from my files housed on my NAS. My goal was to move my core to the ST and it’s working great. It’s really taken the Processor load off my PC as my library consists of over 250K tracks.
So, I have Roon still installed on my PC so I can access it on my computer monitors. All output is from the UR.
Question, my PC is still showing a lot of RAM use from Roon. Around 3,155 MB of use. I understand I need it installed so I can see the interface on my computer monitor. I’m wondering if I can remove some of the elements that are using so much RAM? Cause that should theoretically be happening at the ST.
Is there a way to do this without totally uninstalling on my PC?
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Also, currently I’m analyzing all my files in Roon. Basically a fresh install since the backup didn’t work. It’s at about 25% and I don’t plan on stopping it anytime soon. Prolly take a week or so.
But still wonder about unloading stuff in my local app data folder on my PC that using so much RAM. The ST should be doing that now.
Thanks.
Thanks!
Hi @Spence_Marquart,

If you don’t use the Windows PC as a Roon Core any longer, you can try reinstalling the Roon app and then on the “Choose your Core” screen, you should select the SonicTransporter as the Core. To reinstall the Roon app on the PC, you can use these instructions:
- Make a Backup of your current Roon Database
- Exit out of Roon
- Navigate to your Roon’s Database Location
- Find the folder that says “Roon”
- Rename the “Roon” folder to “Roon_old”
- Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
Also, the 32-bit version of Roon should be a bit less resource-intensive, so if you currently have the 64-bit version, you can try the 32-bit one to see if it helps even further.
