Hi Menzies,
I’m using Virgin router. Not sure which model. I don’t think tge router’s the problem. I can still see and play the speakers with the Sonos app. I think the problem is a Sonos “improvement”. If so I think the Roon community will know about before Sonos.
Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue. Could you try connecting your Sonos endpoints directly to your router using an Ethernet cable? A wired connection tends to be much more stable than Wi-Fi.
Let us know if you notice any improvement after trying that!
Hi Daniel,
I connected one of the speakers with ethernet but it made no difference. I still can’t see any of the speakers.
Previously, I was using wifi for all the speakers and they were all visible and playable through the Sonos app. I should have mentioned that.
Thanks for confirming that aspect. This may sound like a simple test, but have you tried to reboot the networking gear yet? Also, I would double check to make sure nothing has changed on the firewall side of things.
Since you are using a Windows PC as a Server, I would verify that both Roon.exe and RAATServer.exe have been added as exceptions to your Windows firewall.
You can use these instructions to add the exceptions and the executables themselves would be located in your Database Location/Application folder path.
I would also add these exceptions to any Antivirus or other Firewall blocking applications you may have and ensure that you connected to your network via a Private network, not a Public one, see this guide for more information.
I fixed it now by turning the server app off and on again.
This is the 2nd time I’ve had to do this. I checked and both Roon and RAATServer are allowed through the firewall. So there seems to be some instability somewhere in my setup. However, at least I know how to fix that problem if it happens again.
We’re glad to hear that a restart resolved the issue! Hopefully, it won’t happen again, but if it does, please mention this thread so we know what’s already been tried.
