Peripherally related, what about an icon in the album browser that shows when there are multiple (hidden) versions of the same album?

Yes, that additional icon would also be of high value. Could be implemented like today’s top-right corner number when there are multiple discs, on the top-left-side.
It’s not uncommon for views to not sorted properly , if you reselect a sort order from the drop down it will resort
Look at a specific composition it looks random, reselect Sort by Album it becomes alphabetical b6 Artist ???
It doesn’t stick between sessions so at the start there is no sort order applied until you select one that’s what needs fixing
In general tab you can select order by release date or by album name. If release date is choosen, it does that initially. Once you are in artist view and see the albums, you have the ability to resort, but also only by date-added, date, album-title, most-played and so on, but no secondary sort within an album of the same name (version).
