Sound presentation has changed with the latest release

Has anything changed in the code that would alter the sound in thie latest release? The previous version sounded perfect and now it doesn’t . Both on my main system and on my headphones. :weary: Also, fyi this app doesn’t work very well on an iPad.

Devialet 250 (ethernet)

We get this every few releases.

The Core transports binary data from the Core to the endpoint via Ethernet (in your case) and possibly does DSP. That the binary data stays the same over ethernet between sending and receiving is provable and a solved problem in computing. The Roon Ready code in the endpoint that receives the binary data didn’t change nor did your DAC (if you didn’t get endpoint updates at the same time). Roon didn’t say anything about DSP changes.

If we consider the likelihoods of where the differences could be, I would look somewhere else - your source material, the signal path, DSP settings in the Core, any changes in the endpoint, your speakers, ears, or mind.

I’d check for very obvious things like seeing if you have clipping. Even if I have no DSP set I run with Headroom Management enabled set to 0 with the clipping indicator on. If you are applying any DSP then having that active is essential.

Hi Henry, I don’t use any of Roon’s DSP functionality. I find that it sounds neutral wilth all of that stuff turned off.

Nothing has changed in my system. I’m not an inveterate tweaker. Just noticed the sound presentation change, hence the question.
