Sound quality comparison between Network and HDMI-A connection on Nucleus Titan (ref#5XFKCT)

What’s happening?

Describe the issue

This is Not a problem but a question instead. My Nucleus Titan is connected to my Audio Control X9s Processor via the Network and HDMI-A. My question is in theory which should produce the better sound?

Describe your network setup

My internet comes in via Spectrum. My home router is eero. My audio system is an Audio Control X9S Processor.

None. If any, only if your Audio Control X9s Processor had implementation differences that affect the sound on different digital inputs. But then it depends only on the AC X9

Hello @genecaldwell !

Technically direct connection should not result in different sounding, but please see below a photo with specs of RAAT (Roon’s protocol) for this device and consider limitations:

For example if you are going to play more than 2 channels then direct connection would make sense because RAAT is limited to 2 channels and so on.

Let us know please should you have more questions!

Regards.

Hi @genecaldwell,

We’re reaching out to see if you have any further questions concerning Signal Path and Nucleus Titan outputs. Please let us know if we can clarify anything further. Thanks!

Hi @genecaldwell,

We wanted to quickly check in again before the thread auto-closes. Let us know if you’re still having issues, thank you! :raising_hands:

This thread is now closing due to inactivity, but if you’d like to continue the conversation, I recommend creating a post over in Roon Software Discussion. There’s no topic timer in that high-visibility category here on Roon Community, so you’re more likely to get responses and advice long-term to any question you pose.

The Signal Path feature within Roon is fully transparent to Roon’s portion of the digital chain. Anything Roon does to the actual signal will be listed there.
