Specific album fails to play in ARC on cellular network (ref#G1183I)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

· None of these quite match

Tell us what's going on

· Specific album fails to play in ARC

ARC working fine for all local albums and Qobuz content, except one specific album that always shows Poor Connection error on cellular, even when other albums play just fine on that connection.

Album plays fine on ARC when connected to Wifi. I've restarted app and Roon Server. Any ideas?

Hi @Mark_McClusky1,

Thank you for your post. To clarify, what’s the name of the specific album that fails to play? Is it the local version or from Qobuz (if you have more than one version of the album)? We’ll pinpoint the event in diagnostics to see what’s happening. Thank you!

Hey @connor

The specific album is named “Gold Soundz” by James Carter and other. Screen shot attached. It’s the local version in my library.

(If you like Pavement and jazz, this album is insane – jazz covers of Pavement songs.)

@connor know there are a lot of open issues with the new updates, but posting here in hopes that someone can take a look at some point. Thanks.

Thank you!

@Suedkiez You’re welcome! Cool, huh?

Amazing

Unfortunately I still can’t play it on ARC on cellular. @connor or anyone else from Roon, any chance of some help troubleshooting?

It works for me in ARC on cellular by the way. In Germany

Hey @Mark_McClusky1,

Thanks for your patience so far! While we aren’t able to see much in terms of Arc diagnositcs, we do see errors like status:403 curl:22 ‘Network read failure’ and UnrecoverableError, which means ARC is trying to fetch these tracks from Qobuz’s servers and getting an authorization/access failure.

There’s also one local file error: co-50:9:19829810 “Blinded by the Light” with curl:23 ‘Network write failure’ — but that looks like a transient connection drop, not a systematic failure.

It could be the case that your Gold Soundz album is a compilation or tribute album where some tracks exist in your local library but others are being resolved to Qobuz versions, and those Qobuz tracks are returning 403s on cellular, possibly due to:

  • Regional/licensing restrictions that Qobuz enforces differently on mobile vs. WiFi (less common but possible)
  • Duplicate tracks in your library — Roon may have merged or linked local tracks with Qobuz equivalents, and on cellular it's preferring the Qobuz stream which then fails
  • A Qobuz session/auth token issue specific to ARC's cellular connection

Some next steps in troubleshooting:

  • Check the album's versions in Roon. Open the album and look at Versions. See if any tracks show a Qobuz source mixed in with local files.
  • Check Qobuz login in Roon: sign out and back in to refresh the auth token, which may resolve the 403s.
  • On the album page in Roon desktop, go to the track listing and look for the small source icon next to each track — a Qobuz logo on any track confirms the mixing issue.

Thanks, Mark! :+1:

Thanks for the response. I had the Qobuz versions in my library, and then had local files. I wonder if somehow it’s gotten confused. I’ll try these steps.

Sounds good @Mark_McClusky1, we’ll be monitoring for your reply and results.

@benjamin logging in and then out worked; strange! Thanks for the help.
