Specific album image scrolling causes clients to glitch

This is a very weird one, and you need to see the video.

As I scroll my list of newly added albums, there is one album, HEART BEAT by Ai Tomioka, that “flickers” the display. If you slow the video down it is rapidly being removed and restored to the display/result list and eventually the image goes blank, but the album is there.

What makes it weirder is that if I’m on the same screen on my iPhone and have Roon up on another system, it also happens there.

videos: Download file Roon_issue.zip

I’m using MacOS 15.6.1 and iOS 18.7.1 in the video.

Hmm - I’ve got one of those too, and I don’t need to scroll it. It is permanently flickering. Ironically enough, it’s Prince’s Sign ‘O’ the Times album…

(note - you may need to download this video to get it to play - Microsoft seem to have screwed around with OneDrive yet again so that a shared video link won’t play the video in a web browser directly as it used to do…)

Hello @WWLAladdinSane

Thank you for reaching Roon support.

We’ve discussed this with our senior QA and development teams. The team is investigating some possibilities here and, as soon as that investigation is complete, we’ll be sure to follow up ASAP.

You have our apologies for the trouble here, and we’ve greatly appreciated your patience as we continue investigating this tricky issue. We’ll be in touch as soon as we can.

Hi @WWLAladdinSane,

Thank you again for the report.

At your convenience, can you please also upload a .zip copy of the affected Ai Tomioka album (the album artwork file will suffice if you have that)? You can use this secure media upload server.

Having the original artwork available for testing should expedite our investigation and help pin this down faster.

Thank you!

Thanks! I’ve uploaded the entire folder as it exists on my server. Good luck with the troubleshooting.

Thanks for that @WWLAladdinSane!

To confirm, have you tried re-identifying the issue album?

And with that, can you share a screenshot of what you see in the image section of the ‘Edit album’ tab?

Thank you!

I just re-identifed it. I linked it to the same thing (the top row result) that I did originally. Now it is working…

Any idea what happened?

That is excellent news @WWLAladdinSane - and difficult to say with certainty what the initial cause was.

I do think you were on the right path with your above comment:

@Geoff_Coupe if you re-identify your issue album, does it solve it for you as well?

Our QA team will still take a closer look into this and see if they can reproduce the same flickering in-house. :+1:
